It's midnight and I can't sleep.
I've never been a popular choice and I never will be.
I always mess things up. I always break things. I always lose things.
But no one seems to care who I am inside. They only point out my flaws and harass me with them.
Why me?
My life probably couldn't get more shitty right now.
My parents are dead. I have no other family. I am all alone in this world. No one wants me. No one wants a broken girl.
I understand, I'm 16. It's a rare opportunity to see someone who got adopted at 16 or older, so I don't get my hopes up.
Unfortunately, that problem resides on me, but none of my friends.
Many of my best friends such as Cassie, Hannah, and Ally are long gone; they've all been adopted at 15 and 16. They've moved on, they've become new people.
I'm not saying I'm upset with them. I'm just a little bit jealous.
For me, I'm stuck in this hell hole they somehow call an orphanage. Literally, all they do all day long is whip us with belts when we don't scrub the floor completely clean, or we accidentally drop something.
Unfortunately, I am the clumsiest person that has ever walked this earth.
So as you can predict, this place is shit.
I can only pray and hope that a caring family somehow wants a crazy, broken, depressed clutz like me.
------------
I woke up feeling like crap, just like every other day. I glanced over at my left forearm. It was covered with scars that keep on multiplying day by day. The scars disgust me. I don't know how I can live with them.
But to be completely honest, the pain helps me in a way. It let's me escape from the other pain in my life for once.
I truly hate who I am. I feel like every day that goes by without a family just makes it all worse.
It's not like I have anything to live for anyways. Nobody cares about me. Nobody would want to love an ugly, worthless, weird girl like me.
----------
After throwing my crewneck, sweatpants, and my beanie on, I headed down for breakfast.
To my surprise, I saw the special black car in front of the building.
My heart raced with excitement. "I hope they pick me." I mumbled under my breath.
In the front door came a middle-aged woman who was absolutely gorgeous. She looked a little old, but her long brown hair and blue eyes made her age just a subtle thing. Next to her, a man who looked a little bit older than her entwined his fingers with hers. He had a lighter shade brown hair, and he had green-blue eyes. But, the one who caught my attention the most was an attractive young man who looked around my age. He had brown hair just like the man and the woman. He looked a lot like both of them, so I suspected that they were his parents. He stood awkwardly next to his parents, obviously embarrassed by their actions. He glanced around, and saw me staring at him.
I turned away, my cheeks flushing a dark pink shade. "There goes my chance of ending up with that family." I whispered to myself. I ruin everything.
But for some reason, when I sat down to eat my breakfast, the young man continued to stare at me. I began to blush again. I then glanced over to see him whispering in his fathers ear. He then pointed over to me slightly, trying not to be obvious.
His father then looked at his son with a confused look on his face. I could see that the man said "Her?" The boy then nodded and said "Yes, her." The father then passed the message to the mother, with the same actions that the boy used. The mother nodded, and the young man walked over to me.
"Hello, my name is Trevor." He stated, obviously embarrassed.
"Um hi, I'm Hazel." I awkwardly replied.
He ruffled a hand through his hair. "I was wondering if you would like to come meet your new family."
