i'm sorry this is late. i'm having trouble with this part of the story, but it should get easier after this chapter.

Bliss doesn't last forever. The post-kiss bliss vanished seconds after Will muttered the words that shocked me. A white-hot pain shot through my head and my vision momentarily blackened before focusing again. A concerned Will was leaning over me, and my back was resting against the couch.
"Nico, what just happened? One moment you were sitting in front of me and the next moment you fell against the couch like you'd been shot. You haven't actually been shot have you?"
I laughed despite the throbbing pain still going through my brain. I cleared my throat and said: "I think I might know why your magic is so different from the magic I know of. It's going to take a little while to explain."
We moved to the table, where Will sat opposite me. He looked curious, but didn't ask questions.
"I told you before that Healer's magic doesn't work well with emotions. Before you can master the magic, you have to be in control of your own emotions. But every time you have performed spells, ad not just simple ones, you were using feelings. It is as if, and I can't believe I'm saying this, you aren't just a mortal like I thought. You do magic by feeling. This makes you so much more powerful, but also so much more dangerous. Emotions have no limits. They are strong, and hard to change quickly. Were you to get very angry at something, all your magic would react to that anger. The same would happen with happiness, love, fear and any other emotion you might feel. I don't know how this is possible, but it might have something to do with your heritage. Your dad is, as it turns out, an Immortal Healer and your mom was a mortal. But what could make you so different from children of two Immortals Healers?"
Will looked lost in thought for a few minutes. Then, his face lit up. "You said you had never heard of this type of magic, right? Can you recite the prophecy for me again please?"
I stood slowly and took the paper with the prophecy from my fridge. It should be unsafe to have it just hanging around, but when you have magical locks, you don't really think about it.
"The age we know is over. The saviour saved by the rover. One shall lose his life for a soul, and it will fill a hole. A choice shall see the end gone, or darkness comes at dawn. The world lives through the unexpected, and magic is greatly affected. Here, I meant that last sentence. The prophecy might not be in chronological order. I mean, it's a prophecy, it's sceptic start to finish. Who says it might not play out in a different order than we think? The world lives through the unexpected. It might not mean that the world lives through an unexpected event. You said that the official language of the Healers was Latin. The prophecy must've been in Latin as well, and just translated for later generations. Can you translate this for me?"
"Well the phrase you mean translates to 'mundo vivit inopinatus' which you can translate back to 'through the unexpected' or 'because of the unexpected' and even 'the world lives unexpectedly'. Latin uses case endings, and some have several functions. But why are you suddenly interested in this?"
"Well you said it yourself. They can have different meanings. And one sentence you said makes more sense than the rest at the moment. 'The world lives because of the unexpected' makes more sense than 'lives through the unexpected'. I think it means the world is saved by something unexpected, something you don't know. Like magic controlled by feelings. What if, and I might be crazy, this prophecy has more meanings than we realize?"
--
I spent half an hour translating the prophecy in all the different ways I could think of. In the end I had quite a few. The Latin version was way vaguer than the well-known English one.
Scimus enim quod aetas supra. Latro salvatus est salvator. Nam qui perdiderit animam suam et replebit spatium. A arbitrium in fine videbimus tenebris venit ad lucem. Repentina mundo vivit et magnus vehementer commovetur.
Now we just had to figure out which translations were the correct ones. Also which part of the prophecy had already come through. Well this couldn't get much worse.
But of course it did get worse. Will had been outside on the balcony, saying he 'had inspiration to paint' which I think meant he just wanted to get away from helping me with the translations.
Now he stormed back into the room, looking frightened and a little flustered.
"I don't want to make it worse, but there's a crowd of... somethings gathering outside. The mortals don't notice a thing. They might see it as some sort of protest, but I think we need to move. Now!"
Well shit.

the thing about Latin is true by the way. it can cause a lot of confusion. this chapter is short, but it does clear up some things and forshadows a lot. it was needed because now i can write without accidentally saying stuff i'm not supposed to say yet.
