(Can we talk is a two part 'scene' that moves the story along and is cute)
*Derrick and Keenan going to see Brianna and Sarah/ Keenan's POV*
"So you think you can pick up drinks for the party tomorrow?" Derrick asked me as I nodded my head. "Fasho, but I can't get you alcohol." I said as he laughed. "I got the alcohol part dawg." He said as he took a right turn. "So is Brianna's neighborhood like Sarah's?" I asked as he shook his head. "Nah, but it's still nice. Bri's dad is cool with me cause his real mom left him on a black woman's doorsteps and ever since then, he's really loved black culture. On some Meet the Robinsons shit." Derrick explained to me. "So what's the playlist for the party?" I asked, not even wanting to know why he referenced that movie. "A lot of old school and some new school." Derrick said. "The theme is throwback since the last party I did was new school." He continued. "I might can find a little som som, Sarah is gon be there, right?" I asked. "Ion know man, she hasn't come to any of my other parties. You'd have to really convince her to come." Derrick said as he pulled up to Brianna's house. "Whatchu mean? She that stubborn?" I asked as he parked the truck. "I don't know, she used to say she had plans with Jason and then I asked Jason and he'd say he was at practice." Derrick said. I really had my work cut out for me. Brianna and Sarah came out of the house, Brianna went to give Derrick and then she surprised us by pecking him on the lips. "Hey." Brianna said smiling. I looked to Sarah, who was smirking at the two. "Hey cutie." Derrick said back, pecking her lips again. "Okay, let's go inside." Brianna said taking Derrick's hand and going inside. I just stood there looking at Sarah, she tilted her head to the door and started walking. I followed her like a damn lost puppy. "What's the plan for the party?" Brianna asked sitting on the couch. "Old school and try to dress the part but not noticeably white." Derrick said. "You too, Sarah." Derrick said as Sarah sat criss-crossed on the other couch. "I shouldn't, I would just embarrass you guys." Sarah said shaking her head. "I'll help you out, ain't that what friends do?" I spoke up. "Yeah, but I don't have clothes or know the songs o-or how to dance." Sarah said looking for every and any reason not to go to this party tomorrow. "I have a homegirl from my old school that can help you out and the other stuff doesn't matter." I said. "O-Okay, if you're sure-" "I'm positive." I rushed out before she could finish her sentence. "Give her Bri's address and tell her to have a fairly good selection, I'm not picky." Sarah said moving a piece of hair that fell out of her bun behind her ear. "Coo, SJP is going to a party." I said giving her a high-five, to which she blushed afterward. After discussing party details, we all chilled and watched a movie. Brianna suggested Get Out but me and Derrick were quick to shut that down. Sarah was scrunched up in a ball on the couch, biting her thumbnail as we watched the Descent. When the night vision scene came on and the camera panned onto one of the crawlers, Sarah tensed up and shut her eyes. I leaned over and whispered in he ear. "Not a fan of jump scares?" I asked as she shook her head. "Not a fan of anything that will cause a change in my sleep schedule at night." She whispered right back. "Why did Bri even pick this movie?" Sarah asked. "I think I have a feeling why." I said lowly pointing to Brianna and Derrick quietly kissing and doing God knows what under the blanket. "Of course." Sarah said rolling her eyes. "If it's not too much to ask as a friend, can I scoot closer?" "Yeah, SJP, I got you." I said taking a hold of her hand. "Thanks, Kee." Sarah said scooting closer to me. Was it just me or was we vibin'? The movie was still going and then I feel Sarah tug on my hand. "Can we talk in the kitchen?" She asked as we looked to Brianna and Derrick. "Yeah." I said. We got up and went into the kitchen. Sarah was sitting on the counter playing with her fingers. "So wassup?" I asked leaning on the opposite counter. "I wanted to get this off of my chest. I need to get it off of my chest." Sarah said as I stood up straight. When we made eye contact, it was like her whole mindset changed. "Try not to make me look like an idiot tomorrow." Sarah said grinning as she lightly punched my chest. "Never." I said as we went back into the kitchen.
