My phone shrilled from my pocket, but I just ignored it. I was way too shaken to do anything else right now.

"Who's that?" I asked with a stern voice.

He stared at me, startled. "My brother was asking me if he could sell my bike, of course I said no." he responded, self-assured. I nodded. But somewhere deep inside me became skeptical.

I slumped down the couch and flipped my cell open when I saw an unread message from my cousin's.

Don't call the police, and then I'll be safe. My hand trembled as I read her sentence, letting my phone skidded down the floor. I buried my face in my hands, hiding it from Adam. What did Alicia mean by that? Why was she telling me to not let the police be informed about this incident? I moaned until I was almost out of breath.

"Shhh." Adam sat next to me and caressed my shoulder. I shrugged his hand off of me and moved a few inches apart in the couch.

"I'll call the cops." He said, worried.

"No!" I yelled at him.

"But, we have to."

I shook my head. "I said not!"

He ducked his head lower. "Sorry."

I looked at him viciously, "Did you know that this was going to happen? Was that why you asked me out... to do the crime without any breaches?"

He held his chin up. "Are you accusing me?"

"Yes. I. am." I said, being harsh with my tone.

He nibbled his lower lip. "Ok. I didn't expect that."

"Well, then, I don't think I should be here staying with you by now. Just call me if there's no suspicion at your mind at all." He rubbed his palm on his pants and walked out the door.

I turned the lights on and peeked out the window, still pondering the message I'd received from Alicia the other night. I wanted to call the cops right now but she warned me not to. Nobody was going to help me, was there? I had suspected Adam, and it felt awkward to ask for his hand. I didn't even know how to say I was sorry about pointing my finger on him. I just felt like a little jerk now.

"Hey." Someone shouted, interrupting the train of thoughts in my head. I looked down and saw nothing. I shut my eyes closed. Don't be so delirious. I reminded myself when another voice called out. "I'm here"

I grabbed a flashlight on my drawer and searched where the sound was coming when I saw Adam sitting on the branch of mango tree in our garden.

"What are you doing there?" I smirked.

"It's my way of catching your attention. Do you want to join me right here?"

"Never!"

"Do you mind if I get there in your room?" he winked.

"Yes! Get down there and I'll open the door for you"

"No, no, no!" he pitched a thick rope and I tied it up around the pole near my window. He jumped off, but he kept his grip on the cable, shifting it every time to make progress.

"You are insane, Adam!" I laughed.

His face was almost red when he reached near me, and I supported his hands to climb up.

"You're so heavy!" I complained, but still making fun of him.

He stepped his right foot on the base of the window, and hopped, making both of us crash down to the floor of my room.
