Welcome to my world, Nalmárkon. It is nothing like the world you know. Our planet isn't round, our grass not green, and we have two moons. Most importantly ours is a world of beliefs and magick, closely entwined. Unfortunately our people have been made to grow fearful of the magick. The high council has been given too much control by being the only ones to practice, outside of the Society and the servants of the evil.
This is part of the reason most do not know the truth about the Society. We have been in hiding for so long that most adults even think we are just stories. Now is the time for change! With the passing of the only other surviving society member, my beloved husband, Ryan it is time to pass on our legacy. I guess that I should introduce myself. I am Jasmine Smith, current caregiver to Delilah.
The need to train replacements grows daily. I just hope that I will be able to teach them all they must know, before my time here passes on. This will be the new chapter of a legacy being born. But what makes something a legacy? Is it the object or responsibility being passed down? Or is it the story of those connected to that which is passed down?
I believe it is the stories; the stories of the brave and courageous people overcoming impossible obstacles to protect and maintain that which has been left to their shelter.
This legacy was started to renew a weakening bond; so began the Society of Caregivers to the Last Magick. The society watches over altmars, enmúrs, and dwalian. Altmars, though, need the protection most. Dwali ignore the interference of any outsiders, being adept fighters themselves. Enmúrs feel insulted at the belief that they cannot protect themselves; they believe themselves above being attacked.
I have been using glyphs, this is a written communication between mass groups. Ryan and I decided on this to choose the new society. Hoping that would allow for them to be chosen unbiased.
The list of candidates had slowly dwindled over a four year time period to sixteen. Eight would be receiving the summons tonight to bring them to Sentinel Island. I was scheduled to glyph with them early in the morning. That is when they would be transported to the island.
Once they arrived the true challenge would begin. It had been over 40 years since the last society had been chosen. It had taken over five years for the members to achieve the closest to their full potential. I was hoping that it would not take as long for the new society to be trained.
