Chapter 1

After first meeting Hagrid and being told he was a wizard, Harry stood there not believing his ears.

            “I’m a what?” gasped Harry.

“A wizard, o’ course,” said Hagrid, sitting back down on the sofa, which groaned and sank even lower, “an’ a thumpin’ good’un, I’d say, once yeh’ve been trained up a bit. With a mum an’ dad like yours, what else would yeh be? An’ I reckon it’s abou’ time yeh read yeh letter.”

Harry reached out his hand to take the yellowish envelope, addressed in emerald green to Mr. H. Potter, The Floor, Hut-on-the-Rock, The Sea

Harry read the letter then asked, “What does it mean, they await my owl?”

“Gallopin’ Gorgons, that reminds me,” said Hagrid, pulling from his overcoat an owl, a long quill, and a roll of parchment. He began to scribble.

Hagrid rolled up the note, gave it to the owl, which clamped it in its beak, went to the door, and threw the owl out into the storm.

“Where was I?” said Hagrid, but then Uncle Vernon, still ashen-faced but looking very angry began to yell.

            “He’s not going,” he said

Hagrid and Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia proceeded to argue. Somewhere in all the arguing Harry found out the truth about his parents and the secrets his Aunt  and Uncle kept from him.

Hagrid told him all about You-Know-Who and how Harry was famous for surviving what no other witch or wizard ever has.

Harry’s Aunt, Uncle and Cousin Dudley all retreated to the other room after Hagrid gave Dudley a pig tail.

“It’s getting’ late and we’ve got lots ter do tomorrow,” said Hagrid loudly. “Gotta get up ter town, get another young witch and get all yer books an’ that for yer both.”

            “Another witch?” asked Harry.

“Yup, one bout yer age, she be needin’ help too.” Replied Hagrid as he settled down on the sagging couch.

“Alright Hagrid,” said Harry quietly, as he laid down on the floor. Wonder what she’s like Harry wondered as he fell asleep.

Harry woke early the next morning. Daylight shining against his closed eyelids.

“It was all just a dream,” he told himself.

‘It was no dream ‘arry,” whispered Hagrid.

Harry’s eyes shot open and he rolled over to stare at the giant man called Hagrid, whose sitting on the sagging sofa reading a newspaper.

“Best be off, harry, lots ter do today, gotta get up ter London an’ pick up Miss Oralee an’ buy all yer stuff fer school.” Hagrid said while standing and stretching.

            “But Hagrid?”

“Yes Harry?” said Hagrid reaching for his giant mole overcoat.
