The Party

I stared at the huge mansion in front of me, and was in awe. I felt sick to my stomach, and I didn't think I could go through with the plan. I was about to turn back and just go home to binge watch Grey's or GoT, but before I could even try Nora latched onto my wrist. "Not so fast Lena. I knew you were gonna run from the moment you left the house, and I'm not letting you back out."

"Nora I can't do this," I whined. "I'm just not comfortable with this scene, and you know that. I also feel like I look ridiculous!" I look down at myself in embarrassment. Nora had dressed me in black jeans and a black shirt with a plunging V-neck. My hair was in its natural tousled curls, and my makeup was kept mostly natural, with the exception of the deep red lipstick. My chest was on full display, and I just felt self-conscience. I felt sick.

"Honey, you look great. Dan won't be able to take his eyes of of you, or his hands," she giggled and suggestively winked. I reluctantly followed her up to the door, and took a cup from the one of the freshman boys set to man the door.

As we walked in, I could literally feel the music shaking the house. "All Night" by Chance the Rapper was blasting through the speakers, as people danced wildly to it. Though I felt like my outfit was too revealing, I was surprised by what other girls were wearing. Most of them were in short pencil skirts, and were literally wearing lounge bras as shirts. I'm not really one to judge, but damn they either had no self-respect or balls the size of watermelons.

Nora pulled me towards the the kitchen, where the drinks were stored. I stood by the doorway as Nora filled her cup to the rim with some cheap type of alcohol. "Don't you want some?" she questioned.

"Nah I'm good. You know I don't drink. I'll just have a coke," I responded, just as Jack Yeller sauntered in. I eyed him for a while, because the vibe he was giving off made me uncomfortable. He was wearing a Cubs baseball jersey and jeans. The strobe lights reflected off his bleach-blonde shoulder-length hair, and blue eyes. He walked right up to me and just stared for a minute.

"Adalina Chase is that you?! Well I'll be damned. Look who decided to join the party. You're not really my type, but I guess I'll make an exception tonight," he said cockily. He winked and slid his arm around me pulling me closer. I was confused by his actions, but it was no secret that he was a playboy. I decided to give him a taste of his own medicine.

I pulled him closer, and pressed my body against him. I then wove my hands through his hair and pulled him closer to me, and put my lips right next too his ear. "I need you to do me a favor, hon. Pinch me," I said seductively, as he pulled me closer. "Because I think I just entered my worst nightmare."

He pulled back once my words registered, and all his friends near us saw my rejection. They were hollering in the corner at Jack's defeat. I couldn't help but laugh too. He glared at me and before he walked away he said, "You'll pay for that later bitch."

Nora came up to me and said "What a douche! Come on let's go dance." We walked towards the dance floor and saw many couples grinding wildly. Nora pulled me out and she danced wildly too. The song "Wasted" by Tiësto came on and we danced like there was no tomorrow. I had to admit I was having the time of my life.

We danced for about an hour with some other friends from school when suddenly I was wet everywhere. My clothes were drenched, hair soaked, and makeup running. The music stopped and everyone became silent as they pointed their stares at me. I looked behind me and saw Jack with an empty cooler in his hands, and a smirk splayed across his lips. The asshole had dumped the cooler of jungle juice on me! I don't usually cry, but the anger inside of me was all-consuming. The tears fell freely at that point.

"I told you I'd get you back. Anyway I was kidding before. I would never get with a fat bitch like you. Who would want you, honestly you're just sad," he said loudly so everybody could hear. I looked around me for Nora, but she was nowhere to be found. All I saw were cameras videotaping the scene. Next thing I know, a petite body stood in front of me. It was Holly Jacobson, the school's queen-B. She was known for being the bitchiest, most ruthless girl in school. To get on her bad side was basically the end of your high school life. She would make your life a living Hell.

I thought she was going to mock me even further, but instead she pushed me behind her and flipped her long strawberry-blonde hair behind her shoulder. She look at Jack straight in the eye, and smacked him so hard across the face, the sound resonated throughout the room. She stalked right up to him and looked him dead in the eyes.

"What is wrong with you. Are you so embarrassed by one girl's rejection you have to go and embarrass her in return. Well honey, let me tell you, you have a big storm coming. These people may not know, but I do know that you are just trying to overcompensate for your lack of a dick, by acting more like one," she yelled as everybody laughed. "Do us all a favor and leave, there are enough 'girls' at this party anyway."

Holly grabbed my arm and dragged me from the living room and up the steps to the second floor, which was off-limits. "Where are we going?" I asked as I tripped up the stairs.

Holly looked back at me and said, "Well you don't want to look like a drowned cat all night do you? Let's go get you cleaned up."

"Wait slow down, I need to talk to you. Why did you do that back there? Why did you defend me like that? Most importantly why are you still helping me?" I questioned her.

She looked right at me and looked me over. With a sad look in her eyes she just said, "Does anyone need an excuse to be a good person?"

I stood there dumbfounded. "I guess not."

She smiled at me and pulled me into the closest room, threw open the door and turned on the lights. What I saw before me changed me as a person. For better or for worse, who knows?
