It was a bright and sunny day, the birds were chirping and the sun was shining. Red with her little posture was running around the house that she and her mother lived in. Red could be described as small in fact almost small like a child she was 17 yet reached her maximum height at 4 feet and 10 inches. She was always wearing a red dress that had a cape attached that her mother sewed into it. Red was a very rambunctious kid getting into things she probably shouldn't but also had a knack for cooking. In fact, she loved cooking so much she would always cook a batch of cookies for her grandma. Red although was 17 would always act like a child curious about every little thing.
Suddenly as quick as happiness comes it quickly goes away. Red one day awoke to find her mother lying in bed with a bucket next to her bed filled with a mixture of blood and vomit. Upon quickly taking her mother to the hospital, she finds out that many things are wrong with her mother and has to leave her there for a while which then she lives with her grandma for a while. While she lives with her grandma she becomes acquainted with the woodsman who lives nearby. He tells her many stories of his times in the woods one of which that intrigued her the most was a story about a huge wolf, biggest one the woodsman had ever seen, who walked on his two back legs. With a lack of better judgment and words, the woodsman referred to the beast as a werewolf. She would take great interest as he told her the story where one time the beast came close enough that the woodsman was able to lift his ax with plenty of force and slash down cutting the eye of the beast. Now that ax used lies above his fireplace with the blood stained upon it while hidden within a case.
Finally, Red's mother returned home from the hospital. One slight difference though, although her mother had been through a lot, was a little weak, and needed help, the thing that Red noticed was her mom seemed lost, whether she was lost in thought or just overly confused it seemed almost as if Red's mom had gone numb. One day while Red was sitting in her room confused and scared at what was happening with her mom almost calling the hospital to find out what they did she notices something shimmer in the light of her room from the living room. She approaches the shimmer only to find a prescription bottle with her mother's name on it. Horrified Red confronted her mother but her mother only replied saying don't worry everything will be fine. Things didn't get fine though, her mother only got worse and worse by the day becoming number and number. Finally Red gave up on trying to stop her mother's addiction as she saw it stealing her mother's life away more than the sickness she had.
Her mother slowly ended up turning into a pile of mush on the coach and Red's only escape was grandma's house. So Red used it to her advantage and left her mother every day. Although hard and Red never could leave without shedding a tear she knew that the emotional pain of watching her mother practically die before her eyes was much worse. So off Red went into her expedition to grandma's house only soon in the next week she was in for a treat as to what will happen on the way to grandma's house.
