Harry
Blah blah blood blah, Hermione kept scolding me about adventuring. Yeah, it sucked being caught and then escorted to the school by Snape of all people. Whatever, my nose was fixed and so on, but I turned my attention away my group of friends. The first years had finished being sorted, and now Percy stood alone.
"Perseus Black." Professor Mcgonagall announced.
"Percy Jackson," Sirius' nephew corrected curtly.
Professor nodded,"Percy Jackson."
A murmur erupted and quite a few heads turned to me. After I cleared Sirius name, there was a whole article about Pettigrew's set up. Everyone knew my godfather now, they knew of his innocence, but not of his family.
They all probably assumed Percy was his son. I wonder why Percy didn't accept the Black name. Sirius was great, why wouldn't he love to be part of Sirius family. Suddenly Ginny started talking next to me. I tuned into the conversation between my friends.
"That makes sense." Ginny agreed wholeheartedly.
"Wait, what does?" I interrupted.
Hermione rolled her eyes,"Percy's last name. Honestly, Harry, do you ever listen?"
I ignored her jabs,"What about his last name?"
"It was his mother's," she pointed out.
I hummed, glancing back at the front. Percy sat stiffly on the stool, the hat was twitching slightly, but nothing was unusual. Suddenly Percy flinched harshly, his eyes squeezed shut. I heard the hat hiss, like it was in pain.
Percy had the whole school's attention now. He's been sitting there for a couple minutes already. I started to worry, what if Percy wasn't in our house. I promised Sirius that since he was in my year, I would show him the ropes.
"HUFF—" the hat suddenly cut itself off.
Uneasy glances were shared among us. Why'd it stop?
"RAVENC—" there, it did it again.
What was happening? Worry start taking me, why was the hat doing this. What if Malfoy was right? What if Percy was too old and has been through too much for the house to pick one significant quality to assign him a house. Then the hat started laughing.
"Too loyal for the loyal!" The hat exclaimed.
"Too wise for the wise!" It continued, as awe ran through the school.
Dumbledore had stood up, as had many of the the teachers. I noticed Percy's two cousins were already right beside him. Concern etched on their faces. Percy's face continued to crunch in pain, I frowned.
What was the hat doing? Percy sat, oblivious the world around him. I noticed Snape's head, as well as Slughorn's snap up at the mention of the name Black. Percy flinched again, his fingers clutching the stool till his knuckles were white.
"Too courageous for the courageous!"
"Too clever for clever..."
"Just pick one..." Percy hissed, his body stiffly erect.
"I am the hat that chooses your destiny, young one." The hat soothingly stated.
"Pick one." The raven haired growled.
The hat sighed,"Protector of Hufflepuff, Teacher of Ravenclaw, Knight of Gryffindor, and Survivor of Slytherin... since your wit and swift, clever thinking has kept you alive when your bravery has failed you, and your knowledge was not enough, I announce you..."
"Say it already!" Ron demanded quietly.
"Protector of Hufflepuff?" Ginny question.
"The loyalist of the loyal, refers to whom will protect them when there is no one else." Hermione whispered to her.
"Teacher of Ravenclaw?" Neville asked, looking horribly confused.
"Wisest of the wise, to whom the smart ask questions to." Hermione answered quietly.
"Knight of Gryffindor?" I deadpanned.
She glanced at me,"The courageous of the courageous. Who the brave send to battle when they fear."
"Survivor of Slytherin?" Ron frowned nervously.
"The cleverest of the clever," Hermione responded gravely,"The one with quick mind uses all their assets to conquer the evil."
"SLYTHERIN!" The hat announce.
Tell me what you think...
