One of the many stories I have. I wrote this as a class assignment for my english class. My teacher loved it. Lol here it is! :)
Lost and Not Found
“Run!” Josh yelled. I could hear the leaves crunching beneath our feet.
“Wait, just stop for a second,” I panted.
“A second? We don’t have a second!” He hissed. We stopped running, but Josh kept tugging at my arm. “We have to keep going! You’re on the soccer team right? You should be used to running!” Josh’s voice dripped with stress and irritation.
“Josh. We lost that thing miles ago. Okay?” I looked into his eyes. I could vaguely see their color in the moonlight. He looked away from me, letting go of my arm. I rubbed the spot where he was tugging and walked towards him. I was about to say something, anything, when he cut me off.
“Don’t Lizzie. Leave me alone.” I couldn’t help but feel a little hurt. “This is your fault. It was you idea to come here in the first place,” Josh whispered madly. He was right. It was my idea and my fault. I looked up at the trees. The winds making them sway side to side.
“I’m sorry. I just wanted to get out of that house. I’ve been in that place for weeks,” I whined. I turned to face Josh. He had his back towards me, and his shoulders tensed up.
“Whatever. Let’s just go,” he said flatly. I nodded and started walking back to my house. Josh and I were at least a foot apart and not talking. I hate it when the atmosphere seems so tense. I looked up at the moon and blinked back tears. I didn’t like summer break. It meant that I would be home all day.
I was still looking at the moon when I tripped. I sailed down, waiting to feel impact until it came. Oh, it came alright. I hit the ground with a start. I was laying on my stomach, and it hurt when I tried to move. Something was moving underneath me. Oh my gosh! It’s a bug! I cried to myself. I thought I was going to pass out when I felt desperate hands tugging at my arm.
“Come on Lizzie! You didn’t hit the ground that hard! I think?” Josh said. I tried to get my arm out of his grasp when I felt it. The pressure from my arm released and the pleading stopped. Everything was silent and still. I knew I had to get up, but the ground seemed so soft. Sort of like a cloud. My eyes begin to droop, and my muscles started to relax. The world turned black.
I woke up on dirt. My eyes popped open, and I realized I was still lying on my stomach. I rolled over in pain. Tears stung at the corners of my eyes. My muscles felt stiff as wood. I looked up at the bright blue sky. A nice wind filled the day. I looked at the rest of my body. My cargo jacket all ripped up, and my scarf was dirty with mud. My t-shirt stained and stuck to my skin, and my jeans damp and ruined. My converse looked really gross. I rolled my eyes and slowly sat up. I looked around trying to process my surroundings. A log lay at my feet. Huge trees everywhere either bare or covered with moss. I look to my left and notice a shoe. Still sitting, I leaned over and picked it up. It’s a Nike running shoe. Hey, it looks like Josh’s shoe. I thought to myself. Then, panic hit me like a ton of bricks. Oh my gosh! Josh! I stood up so fast I almost fell down again. I looked left and right franticly. “Josh! Josh! Can you hear me?” I shouted. I started running, well limping, into the direction I thought he went. I was still limping into that same direction when I heard a faint call of my name.
“Lizzie!” called the voice. Relief and happiness washed over me.
“Josh! Stay put, I’m coming.” I started to limp faster towards Josh’s voice, which was still calling my name. I got closer to realize that the voice was a female. I limped over to the figure calling my name. She was a police officer.
