It was weird for Maddicus to be here. At first, I was honestly jealous. How close Eden seemed to be with him made me worried, and the way he seemed to dislike me. But after a day or two of him being here, I realized that he truly was just Eden's best friend. A best friend that looked at her like something holy, which was sort of funny sense he thinks of her as the Queen of demons.

He seemed to distaste everything except Eden and dogs. He did however, seem to tolerate things that Eden liked, which included Dean and I. So at least I had that going for me.

"Sneeze," Eden said, causing me to furrow my eyebrows until a second later she sneezed.

"Did you just introduce your sneeze before doing it?" I snorted, looking down to Eden, who was snuggled under my arm.

"Mhm," She mumbled, "Sneeze."

Just as she said, she sneezed once more. The sneeze seemed to irritate her throat, as she started coughing after that. I pulled her into my side protectively.

"Are you sick?" I questioned, feeling her forehead.

"I've been feeling iffy ever sense the British Men of Letters attack," She answered.

"Didn't you take a shower and then rush out?" I recalled, "It was pretty cold there."

Dean walked in with some coffee, sitting on the couch opposite of us. He sighed, taking a sip and turning on his laptop somberly.

"No word from Cass?" I asked, knowing the answer.

"Yeah," He confirmed, "I'm worried about him."

"Don't be," Maddicus chimed in, walking in with a book, "Castiel would always disappear for weeks and then pop back up."

"That's true," Eden agreed, shivering a little, causing me to reach around her and get a blanket, then covering her up.

"You're sick," Maddicus said suddenly.

"How are you so sure?" I asked.

"I can sense it," Maddicus explained, "Why don't you just make yourself better?"

"You know I can't," Eden mumbled, causing Maddicus's face to settle into realization.

"Oh," He voiced, "I forgot."

"Wait, what?" I inquired, looking between the both of them.

"The Tyrant has a sick sense of humor," Maddicus said, and by now I knew that he was talking about God, "He gives us beautiful wings that could take us anywhere, and let us be free. But then, when we want to be free from him, he takes our power to gain our freedom away."

"I'm not following," Dean said.

"In human," Eden explained, "He's saying that the wings he gave us let us do things so that we're free, like fly or heal or live forever. But when we want to be truly free, he'll take them away from us. Sense my wings don't have feathers, it took away my ability to heal. All of our power revolves around our wings."

"But how is that your fault?" Dean asked, "Didn't you burn your own feathers off."

"The only reason she did that was because of guilt of war," Maddicus replied spitefully, "And there wouldn't be a war if God would've let her mom be free."

"You know about that?" I questioned, shocked, "Cass told us that no one knew why the war happened, even the people on her side."

"He only said that because that's what he's used to," Maddicus scoffed, "He was used to going into battle with no explanation and only blind identical trust. It's not his fault that's all he ever knew. No, we followed Eden because she told us why she thought we should follow her. She gave us choices, or free will."
