Chapter Fourteen

(1 Week Later)

Megan had stayed in Texas longer than intended because of Sami's situation. She didn't want to leave the horses in Texas and wanted to stay with Sami, so she stayed while Jake was still in LA.

Megan stood in the barn, trying to massage Sami's legs. The mare seemed to enjoy it because her head hung low as her eyes were half closed. China stood by Sami's head and Bella stood behind her. The three horses were being allowed to run loose throughout the day just because it seemed to brighten Sami's spirit.

Upon hearing footsteps, Megan looked up to see Jayde of all people coming towards her. Megan completely ignored her and went back to massaging Sami's legs.

"Look, I know your pissed at me and Christy but I wanted to talk to you." Jayde said as she walked passed Bella and China.

"I'm only home because Sami needs to be here so talk." Megan replied, not even bothering to look up at her sister.

"I didn't talk to a lot of people while I was gone. I just wanted to have a vacation, that's all." Megan stood up and looked at Jayde.

"You and everybody else here, except for Kyle, stopped talking to me when mom and dad did. Answer me very honestly, did you agree with mom about me only wanting to model because I could get fame from Jake?" Jayde really didn't answer Megan. "Just go. Tell Christy not to bother apologizing to me and the only reason I'm staying here is because I won't put Sami in more pain to move her back to California." Megan turned back around to finish massaging Sami's legs. She heard Jayde walk away and looked up.

This Houston trip was getting worse by the minute. She wanted to go home but she didn't want to leave Sami here and if she left, Sami could have a painful journey.

Megan was done and walked out of the barn and watched as Sami walked out with China and Bella beside her, staying beside Sami as if they knew what was going on.

Megan's phone started to ring. She looked at her phone to see Jake calling her.

"Hi Jake." Megan answered her phone.

"What's wrong?" Jake asked on the other end.

"I need to hurry and get back to LA. I don't want to be here anymore. But I want to be here for Sami. I don't know what to do."

"I know you don't want to move her but you might have to."

"I'm thinking about putting a lot of straw into the trailer to help because I can't stay here. Not with Jayde and Christy being back here."

"Want me to come down there?"

"If you want too, but I can't promise that my sisters won't say anything to you."

"I'm not worried."

Jake and Megan talked a little bit longer. Megan walked back in the house to find everybody in the front room. Carl looked up at Megan.

"What?" Megan asked.

"Can you sit down and talk to us?" Carl questioned.

As much as Megan didn't want to talk to any of them, she sat down beside Kyle.

"Look, I know Christy and Jayde made their mistake but they're both very sorry." Carl said once again.

"So, you're going to apologize for them now?"

"I tried to apologize but you told me off." Jayde chimed in as she looked at Megan.

"I really don't care what any of you have to say. You and Christy both followed mom and dad when they said I was only with Jake because of his money and because of his fame. I don't care anymore. The only reason I came here was to be in the race but now I can't because my damn horse has arthritis. But I'm taking my horses and my dog back to California because I can't stand looking at any of your right now."
