I could barely sleep the night before we left. My nerves were taking over my body. And I couldn't fall asleep during the flight either. I was worried. Victor hasn't told me much about this trip except it is important to him. We discussed some ideas for next season before Victor cuddled my arm and fell asleep. When we landed, I was so tired that I dragged him off the plane so we could get into a bed sooner.
I rushed him to the luggage carousels to discover Yurio and his coaches standing in front of us. "Yurio! Yakov! What a surprise to see you! Have you decided to follow me to find out all my secrets?" he asked them cheeringly.
I remained quiet, hiding in Victor's shadow. Why the hell is Yurio here? Why are his coaches here too? I was starting to feel like this trip was a bad idea, but I'm still going to give it some hope. Everyone seemed quiet to me, my body cold. I saw Lilia walk past me from the corner of my eye. She began picking up everyone's luggage from the carousel. "Oh, thank you, Lilia," I said, walking up to help her.
"Is this 'wild goose' meeting us here or do we have to go to them?" Yurio asked, already seeming annoyed as usual.
I checked the information that Victor forwarded to me. "They sent a driver for us. Should be a black van from the information we received. The driver should be standing outside the van," I responded while adjusting my glasses.
We walked outside. It was a bit chilly, car horns and busy traffic filled the atmosphere. Victor placed his arm around me. "Same old Massachusetts. Angry city drivers everywhere."
"And I thought Detroit was busy."
When I took a look at the van, my jaw dropped. It wasn't your typical black van. There was handpainted linework on the sides and the driver was quite beautiful. When we got in the van, the seats were set up along the sides like a limousine. Instantly, I went towards that snacks that overflowed one of the little shelves. Of course Victor had to remind me of how easily I gain weight. Yurio ended up putting his headphones on, ignoring everything around him, and I fell asleep on Victors shoulders.
Time passed. I was woken to the sight of a large mansion. Next to the mansion stood a private ice rink. My body felt shivered from a nervous chill. Amazment filled my eyes. I felt as though I stepped foot into dream world. Lillia and Yakov walked into the house as if they owned the place, suggesting that we split up to find the owner. Victor kissed my forehead and followed them inside, leaving Yurio and I alone. We walked into the ice rink, silence pronounced most. The lobby was designed to be set up as a museum, stacked with figure skating costumes, hockey gear, newspaper articles, and pictures. One of the display cases I came across of had an old newspaper article that was placed in a dark wood frame. The picture in the article struck me. Confusion filled my mind.
"Um.. Yurio... You should take a look at this picture."
"Huh? What about it?" He stood next to me, leaning down to take a closer look.
"Doesn't that look like Victor from his junior years?"
"Da. It looks like it was taken at the beginning of his junior career. But who is the person beside him? He looks like Victor."
The entrance door opened behind us, two shadows painting the floor. Yurio and I turned around to see Victor with a man standing next to him. This was someone we didn't know, someone we've never met before.
"Yuri. Yurio. There's someone I would like you both to meet," Victor said with his usual smile.
The man gave a slight smile, slicking his hair out of his face. "It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Griffin. Griffin Nikiforov."
(Oh how I'm tired. Keep in mind, I work 13hr work shifts and I start my morning VERY early. If it takes some time to write any of the forthcoming captures, it's because I'm juggling work, sleep, and health. Overall, I hope y'all are enjoying. My goal is to try and make it less confusing but also try and get a lot of the character's POV.)
