After a couple weeks, it was the end of the school year again and I was excited because this meant one more year until I was in high school. My brother came back home but not for long. After the first week, I walked out of my room to really loud fighting like I had never heard before as I walked in to the kitchen I looked through to the lounge room and what I saw, scared me and I just stood there not knowing what to do. I don't know how it unfolded or what had happened but my step father had my brother up against the wall by the throat and my mother was hitting my step father trying to get him to let go. My step father eventually let go and my brother yelled at my mother saying, "see? You just saw for yourself of him trying to kill me!" my step father replied, "if I wanted to fucking kill you I would" my mother told them to stop and my step father walked off saying, "last time I ever fucking help you." my brother pushed my mother aside and once again took off.
My mother called my nan to see if my brother had been going to work and how he was going at work. My nan said that he had been going every day and is doing well. She asked my mother why and my mother told her what had just happened and said my brother is on his way there now.
The next day, my brother came to the house with my pop to get all of his belongings. This time, he left everything empty in his room. My brother didn't talk to anyone while he was there and once he was done, he got in the car and they left again. During that year we didn't really see him or hear from him apart from the occasional argument over the phone late at night.
I myself wasn't feeling too well about myself and was feeling even more down. The kids at school were being even more nasty and were picking on my weight even more than ever. This affected me more than what it had in the past and the main reason to that was, I didn't want to go to highschool being known as the fat kid. So what did I do? I started to starve myself during the days at school and any lunches packed, I would throw in the bin when I got to school. At the end of the year the senior class got to go on a class trip interstate as we studied parliament. During this trip I didn't eat either unless it was a piece of fruit. We did a lot of exercise which also helped me lose weight. After two weeks away,we came back and my parents were standing outside of the bus waiting for me to get off.
When I got off, my parents looked at me in shock as to how much weight I had lost with in the two weeks of being away. They asked if I was eating and I said yes but we did alot of exercise. I didn't want to tell them I had stopped eating otherwise they would have known what was going on at school.
Was getting more to the end of the year and my mother had enrolled me at the same high school my brother went to. I was excited. New school, new people and hopefully no more drama and bullying... So I thought but we will get to that shortly.
We were getting ready for our graduation ceremony for leaving the school and everyone was excited except me. Everyone was picking on me because my teachers had chosen me to sing one of the lead parts of the song in front of the whole school and community of the school, as I had a hidden talent and my teachers thought it would be a great idea for me to show it on our last night.
The night had finally arrived and we were all standing there waiting to be introduced to the community as the leaving seniors. We walked down the church aisle and took our seats after being introduced and then one by one, we all got up to receive our farewell gifts and certificates. Then it was time for the song... I was so nervous about it. At the end of the song, everyone clapped and the ceremony was finished. I found my parents and we finally went and found some dinner and went home.During the holidays, we went to celebrate Christmas at my nan and pops but my brother refused to come out of his room until we left. My mother left his gift for him and we left once we were done. The next day my mother woke up to find the gift she had gotten my brother, set on fire and sitting at the front door. She was really upset and crying and I just didn't know what to do. This time of year especially is meant to be for family and he had ruined it for her.
A couple weeks later it was time to go shopping for new school supplies. The list was bigger so it took longer than my previous school lists to complete and was more complicated. We eventually got it finished and everything was organised ready for the new year.
