Ilang araw na rin niyang hindi sinasagot ang tawag nito. She was avoiding his calls on purpose. Alam niya kung bakit ito tumatawag. Her brother's birthday is coming soon. She really wanted to come and give her present in person pero...
Nag vibrate nanaman ang phone niya. Mukhang hindi siya pipigilan ng kanyang kuya. She picked her phone up, nag dadalawang isip ito kung sasagutin ba niya ito o hindi. 'You have to answer the call kathryn. Ano ka ba?! That's your brother for goodness sake. Maawa ka naman sakanya.' Sigaw ng konsensiya niya. Kinakabahan na sinagot niya ang tawag ng kuya niya.
-hey kuya. How are you?!- magiliw na bati niya rito na para bang wala siyang ginawang mali.
-Buhay ka pa pala?- her brother replied.
-ah eh.. Yes?- halatang galit ang kuya niya base sa sinabi nito.
-you have to come to my birthday kathryn. Kung hindi, tingnan lang natin kung sinong papauwiin sa canada.- banta ng kuya niya.
Canada is a lovely place, but, for her it's where her freedom cease to exist. Nandoon ang kompanya ng Daddy niya. It's where her family lives. Her aunts and uncles live there, even her distant relatives. And being the only 'unica hija' sa pamilya nila, lahat na yata ng mata nakatingin at binabantayan ang bawat galaw niya. That's why she escaped a few years ago and went to the philippines. Her Tiya Maricel, not really her relative but more of like a grandmother to her lives in the philippines. Si Tiya Maricel ang nag alaga sakanya simula bata pa. Pero nag retire ito dahil sa katandaan. May decente itong tahanan sa Maynila kaya dun muna siya pansamantalang nanirahan. Of course that was before she met Zach...
-Does it really have to be in the philippines?- Reklamo niya.
-Bakit ba ayaw mo dito sa pilipinas? I thought this was your 'safe haven'? Dito ka nga pumunta nung tumakas ka diba?-
"Safe haven my ass." bulong niya sa sarili.
-Okay okay. I'll go there for your birthday. Geez, do you really need to remind me how bad of a daughter I am for escaping a few years ago?-
-Hahaha. Great! I'll tell mom and dad that you're coming. Sinthia would be so happy to finally meet you. Bye!- and just like that...she knew her life would be full of misery and tears once again. That is if, she'll meet the man she regret ever knowing...and loving.
One thing is for sure, she'll do anything to avoid The great man known as Zachary Lim.
