Mia

DREAMS

"I thought you were different!" I exclaimed to the boy standing in front of me who was in shock.

"Mia, baby, we can work this out," I cut him off "No! We're over!" I shoved him and then backed away while my head flooded with emotions. Anger, hatred, and a feeling I was going to be sick.

The blackness around seemed oddly normal, as if I was at the bottom of a hole, but the boy and I were glowing a bright white and everything slowed.

Suddenly, I woke up. I looked at the small clock on the side table. It read: "1:37 AM". Another night of barely enough sleep. I turn over to go back to sleep, when I hear a scream.

"Ahhhhhh! Help! Help me!!" I jumped out of bed, even though I was dizzy and tired, I stumbled as quickly as I could to my little sisters room to find a man trying to take her.

"Mi-" He clamped his grimey hand over her small mouth. "GET AWAY FROM HER!" I screamed at him. I saw his arm coming at me, "Mmhm!" a brief mumble from my sister, Annebelle, then I blacked out.

When I woke up, all I could smell was dirt, and garbage. I opened my eyes, I think. It was pitch black in the room.

I tried to move my arm, to find it chained to the ground. My legs were chained too, it made a loud clanging noise when I moved them.

My eyes having adjusted to the darkness now, could see that I was in a dingy cage, in a very large room. I couldn't see any light, but I could faintly make out another cage, and a body inside.

I couldn't help wondering if that was Annebelle. And if I called out her name, would she answer? I shuddered at the thought that she may not be alive, leaving me alone, with no one else in my life to love. I turned around to see a figure standing just outside my cage.

"I see that you are awake." "Who are you?! and what do you want with my family?" "If I told you that, then it wouldn't be much of a secret, now would it?" "No, but can I at least find out your name?!" "My name is Fratrombae... Mia." "How do you know my name?" "Your sister told me. She told me many things."

I couldn't help but cringe every time I heard that scaley, crinkly voice. It sounded like trash going through a garbage disposal, when it was really words going through his throat.
