The sound of the the communications terminal was what woke Commander Drigg.
"Yes Lt, what is it?
Lt Amaro, a dedicated officer, replied,
"Sir, you said to notify you when your brother arrived."
Sighing lightly, "Alright, Lieutenant, give me a minute. Have him wait in the northern observing area."
"Yes sir!" Replied Lt Amaro as the comm fell silent.Thinking to himself, it had been 12 years since he had been in contact with his brother Jhereg. He had gone off and joined a separate faction and was at odds with the way things were done concerning the military's views on behavior and protocol. For some reason he decides now to establish contact. Only he knew why, but only rarely in their lives did his brother not rankle his feathers.
After putting on his uniform, Commander Kalto Drigg of the 7th Kelton Fleet walked out of his quarters, down the northern corridor and into the northern observing deck.
There was his twin brother Jhereg Dregg. He noticed the name tag was spelled the way Jhereg said it should be. He paid it no mind. Jhereg was looking out at Planet Kelton below, his back facing Cdr Drigg. Arms folded behind his back, dressed in a grayish black uniform with faction colors,"I have to admit brother, you've done well for yourself. Never took you for a ship like this." Turning around he continued. With a smirk, "Mother would have been proud... I think."
With a loud sigh, Commander Drigg replied, "Jhereg, what do you want? I have a lot going on today and you decided to contact me after 12 years for...what? More of your political garbage about why the war didn't go the way you wanted? The war is over. We're at peace. Last I heard you had joined the Lexon Faction. I have better things to concern myself with than your old prejudices and arguments."
Looking sodden all of a sudden, Jhereg replied, "Yeah, about that. I kind of got myself into some trouble with faction heads. I mean it's not really bad. At least not the way they are accusing me."
Walking towards one of the viewing panes, Commander Drigg turning towards his brother.
"Okay explain, I don't have much time, so you're going to have to make it quick."Shuffling his feet, Jhereg starts explaining.
"Well I had took it upon myself to "borrow" one of the ships of the Lexon dignitaries and kind of failed to notify them. So charges have been brought upon me, so I though as my brother and your status in the Kelton Fleet that you could help."Shaking his head, Commander Drigg said, "Are you kidding me? Why in the hell do you think I would help you after abandoning your post while on mission? Do you realize the crap you put me through? Covering for you and dealing with all your stupidity and unprofessional conduct in uniform? And now you are involved in this fiasco and heaven knows what you're NOT telling me. You do realize my faction has no say in the laws of the Lexon faction. What goes on there is dealt with by its citizens and on a democratic level. Not the military."
Grabbing the rails running along the wall, Jhereg said, "Well I told them you would pay the credits that I owe for the ship I borrowed"
"You mean stole", said Cdr Drigg
"Um yes, that. Anyway, if you could cover the cost of the ship, then I'd be forever grateful."With a loud sigh Kalto replies, "So because you obviously used all your inheritance up after mom and dad died, that you thought to come to me assuming I'd help you?"
Tapping the railing, Jhereg replied, "Brother, isn't that what family is supposed to be for?"
Looking into his brother's face, Kalto replied, "Depends on whom you ask. Listen, I don't have time for this, I really don't. Once again you've gotten yourself into some kind of trouble and I have to come bail you out. We can discuss this later, but right now I'll have you stay in some quarters until all this gets settled. Are you okay with that?"
"Fine, replied Jhereg. "So when when do i get a tour?"
Looking away and rolling his eyes Kalto said, "Jhereg, this a ship of war, not a pleasure boat. You'll be given limited access and will have a escort with you at all times." Signaling with his right hand, Lt Amaro walked over. "Lt, please escort my brother here to his quarters. See that he is given the amenities he needs." With that said, Commander Kalto Drigg walks back in the direction of the his duty station. Thinking to himself, "Well this day is just going so smooth.".
