I was so tired the Monday we went back to school that Herc had to drive me to school. 

I gave herc a quick hug and got out of the car. "Thanks, Dad!" I called over my shoulder.

I heard a faint you're welcome!' from behind me. 

I started my walk, sadly, toward the school.

I heard the familiar sound of Paige's voice. Followed quickly by Sarah's laugh and hurried footsteps in my direction. 

I could see Philip out of the corner of my eye, he was coming toward me in a much quieter approach than my friends where. 

What I didn't notice were the two men that were fighting in the parking lot. 

"HAR-" Paige's greeting was cut off by a loud bang. 

Everyone turned toward the parking lot, some people even screaming at the loud bang. 

I felt a crushing pain in my side, my breath hitched, my knees buckled. 

I coughed and watched a red liquid fly out of my mouth. 

"HARPER!!!" 

I fell to my knees, The pain was blinding. 

What happened? What's going on? 

I could feel the cold liquid running down my chin. 

My vision blurred and I could see many people running toward me. 

"...Philip..?" I managed to quietly say before I felt my body hit the ground hard.

My world went black.
