"You said you had nothing to do with that prank, Mr. Potter? Are you lying to me?" Professor McGonagall asks as she sits back in her chair staring at James.
James smiles sheepishly,"that depends on how you define lying."
"Well, Mr. Potter, I define it as not telling the truth. How do you define it?" She asks as she purses her thin lips.
Without hesitation, James folds his arms,"reclining your body in a horizontal position,"he answers.
Professor McGonagall raises an eyebrow and folds her arms. James stares straight into her brown eyes and sees a hint of laughter twinkle in her eyes. "Get out of my office James," McGonagall says trying not to show her amused smile.
"Absolutely,"James smiles while walking out of her office.Walking down the hallway to his potions class he pulls out a book from his pants pocket. His grandfather was very fond of muggles and James would come with him to a muggle bookstore to buy books. James loved to read and write; it was one of his secret passions. Only his grandfather knew of it. James would write poetry and articles on different things. He'd make his grandfather read it and edit it.
After hearing footsteps come down the hall he hurriedly puts his book back into his pocket.
"James, Professor Arnold sent me to find you,"Roxy tells him,"he had a hunch that you were wondering the halls." Roxy raises an eyebrow as she plays with her tight curls.
James shrugs,"you caught me."
Roxy chuckles a bit as she shakes her head. "Did you get detention then?" She asks.
"Of course not,"James scoffs as he rounds the corner.
Roxy and James quickly walk into the potions class and James instantly looks over to his table where Rodger stands waving the smoke from the sizzling cauldron. James makes a face and scrunches his nose from the rotten smell.
James laughs loudly as he hops on top of the table and looks at the light brown potion in the cauldron. "What'd you do to this? I was gone for 3 minutes!" James exclaims as he jokingly punches Rodger on the arm.
"Don't be such a bloke,"Rodger rolls his eyes as he examines the recipe and tries hard to find a solution to this now failing potion. Rodger smiles and then looks over at James,"detention?"
"Do you really think that low of me?" James jokes as he adds some kind leaves into the cauldron to calm down the smoke.
"How do you manage to do that?!" Rodger almost shouts. "First you come up with a brilliant idea about the toilets-"
"That was you?" Ivy Robinson, Roxy's lab partner and friend, gasps.
James looks Ivy up and down and then nods his head while leaning back in his chair. He rests his head on his hands and kicks his feet up.
"You and your friends clogged the toilets?" She asks again as she folds her arms.
James nods his head as he looks at her star necklace that hangs low on her neck. Squinting his eyes he can almost make out the stone in the center of the star.
"Excuse me ,"Ivy interrupts James's thoughts,"my eyes are up here."
James bites his lip feeling embarrassed and then tries hard to shrug it off. He feels his throat grow dry and he watches as she fiddled with her necklace annoyed with him.
"The toilets won't unclog for 24 hours,"James laughs and then adds,"I personally made the hex."
"Do you...hear yourself when you talk?" Ivy asks, tilting her head to one side. "You do know you're not going to be able to use the restrooms for a full 24 hours as well?" She squints her eyes and puts her hands on her tiny waist.
James thinks for a moment and then mumbles to Rodger and Ivy,"we didn't quite think that through." He bites his lip thinking of how they had hexed all the toilets. "But,"James protests Ivy's comment," we're men. Men can pee anywhere they want."
Ivy's grey eyes become wide and her pink form a wide '0'
"Are you even listening?" James asks still happy with his idea.
"Yes, it just takes me a while to process so much stupid all at once,"she states with a blank face.
James smirks at her comment and then shrugs his shoulders as he puts his hands up defensively. Ivy rolls her moon grey eyes as she sighs. James always loved to banter, especially when it was sarcastic. Ivy seemed to match his sarcasm perfectly.
"Ivy could you stop harassing my cousin,"Roxy groans while stirring the potion.
"Roxy she can't help it,"James laughs,"bitchyness comes naturally to her."
Roxy holds Ivy back from punching James and she makes a face. James could see a little gleam in her moon grey eyes. Ivy runs her hands through her short blonde hair and then rubs her tan arms. James looks at the goosebumps that form on her slim arms.
Immediately James takes off his Gryffindor sweater and throws it to her. Ivy catches it and makes a face,"it smells like too much hair product."
"You're cold yeah? Put it on,"James rolls his eyes and then starts to cut up some wild weed to put in the cauldron.
Ivy smirked and then pulled his sweater over her round head. She makes a satisfied face and then turns around to help Roxy with their potion.
"And why do we put wild weed in the potion?" Professor Arnold asks the class as he walks up and down the aisle. His nasally voice makes James cringe and then he watches as Ivy raises her hand.
"To prevent the chemical reaction between the two grinded rocks from happening,"she states while grinding the calcite rock. Professor Arnold nods his head and then disappears into his office.
For some odd reason, James is fascinated with his smart she is. Ivy would answer all the question in class and, of course, they were right.
"Could you please stop staring at me?" Ivy asks as she puts her hands on her hips.
James didn't even notice how long he was staring at her. He barely noticed her turning around. "I...I was just...,"James, for once, tires to find words.
Ivy raises her eyebrows and then turns around again, putting her attention back into the potion. James smiles a bit as he runs his hands through his dark auburn hair. Pushing his glasses up the freckled bridge of his nose he looks over at Roger as he stirs the cauldron and scoffs at James.
"She's out of your league mate,"Rodger sneers as he playfully punches James's shoulder.
Rolling his brown eyes, he leans back in his chair and lowly says,"I'm James Sirius Potter. I could get any girl I want."
"You're talking out of your arse,"Rodger laughs as he gathers his books as class gets dismissed.
James catches up with Rodger and makes a face,"you're just jealous because you know I'm right."
"James...realize what's coming out of your mouth,"Rodger laughs as they walk over to Nikoli and Al who sit at a table in the great hall.
James smiles as he sees the happy couple. Nikoli's arm was wrapped around Al and Al laid his head on Nikoli's shoulder.
Sitting down, James fools with his newly pierced ears and makes a face bit annoyed that they haven't fully healed yet.
"Stop playing with them James,"Al laughs at James and then states,"they need to heal. Picking at the scabs won't work."
"Why'd you let Teddy pierce them anyway?" Nikoli asks as he takes a bite of his large ham sandwich.
"I wanted them,"James says as he twists the little studs in his ears.
"They do fit you,"Albus tilts his head to the side and then nods.
Fred sets his books down as he sits himself down on top of the table. His pale green eyes shine in the sunlight and he sighs. James could see his face grow slump.
"You alright mate?" James asks.
"I got detention for saying 'eat my ass' in the hallway,"Fred mumbles. He scratches his back and then sighs loudly again as he tries to grab some of Nikoli's sandwich but fails.
"But was it worth it?" James asks while smirking. He stretches his back and then rolls up his dress shirt sleeves.
Fred laughs as he nods his head and then watches as his twin sister comes up to the table. Roxy's wild curls are pulled into a high bun and her lips are colored with red lipstick. Ivy's short hair is pulled into a half bun because, James assumes, her hair was too short to put into a full bun. James smiles when he realizes that Ivy was still wearing his sweatshirt.
Lily comes up to the table and fixes her messy bun and baggy jeans. Lily smiles and runs up to the table,"how's my boys doing?"
"Lil how many times must I tell you we are men not boys,"Fred rolls his eyes.
"That's exactly how men act Fred,"James sarcastically says while staring at Ivy.
"And men have also hit puberty,"Ivy adds while motioning to James's bare face.
Smirking at her comment James answers,"I'll have you know that I grew a beard at the age of 12."
"Right,"Ivy scoffs,"and I'm a giant squid."
"You know,"James nods his head while squinting,"you do resemble a squid."
Ivy glares at James while Fred bursts out laughing. James smiles at him while cracking his knuckles. Putting her hands on her hips, Ivy watches as Nikoli shoves his sandwich down his throat.
"Wow Nikoli,"James smirks,"you really wolfed down your lunch today." Teddy and Al chuckle at James's joke
