Chapter 1: The Lady and The Boy

"Laura! Bilisan mo na! Ma la-late kayo dalawa!" rinig ko yung boses ni manang galing sa living room habang nandito ako sa kuwarto ko na nakasara yung pintuan.

"Opo!" sagot ko bago tumayo at magbihis. Meron pa kasi akong uniform! Okay lang 'yan, Laura. Mag-gra-graduate ka din naman kaya after nito, college student ka na.

Pagbaba ko, as expected, tapos na kumain si Lillian at pa-alis na. "Hurry up Laura, you're gonna be late. Why can't you be like your sister?" ayan, my loving mother comparing me to my sister once again!

"Huwag ka mag-alala, Laura, they'll eventually stop." sinubukang i-comfort ako ni ate pero na-upo na lang ako sa dinner table at binigyan ng plate of bacon, eggs and toast tapos yogurt for dessert.

"Ma'am, for your lunch po, binaunan po namin kayo ng steamed pink salmon with corn and beans and for dessert, romanian salad po." I absentmindedly nodded habang sinabi ni Richard, butler namin, yung baon ko for today.

Pagkatapos ko kumain, pumunta na ako sa car at hinintay si manong na i-drive ako papunta sa school.

"Madam, have you reminded your parents of the upcoming event about to happen?"

I sighed as I looked down at my books and thought about tomorrow. "I haven't, and I don't plan to. I know it may seem selfish but I want them to remember it on their own. I know they might be busy but it's my 16th Birthday for goodness sake!"

The rest of the drive to school was silent hanggang narating na namin yung destination.

Pagbaba ko, I made a bee-line to my locker first pero bago ko pa yun marating, hinarangan yung daanan ko.

Hindi ko kinailangan mag look up para malaman kung sinong nangharang sa akin.

"Laura! Alam mo na miss kita nitong summer break!"

"Anong gusto mo Trevor? I need to get to class." I tried swerving around him pero in-open niya yung arms niya. Naman!

Grabe, every time I see his smirk is just so... what's the word? Annoying! 

Eto si Trevor, yung pinaka nakaka-inis na tao and he won't leave me alone. Palagi siyang nag-re-request ng date pero alam ko yung ginagawa niya, he's just playing with my feelings!

"Alam mo na yung sagot dun! :D Sige na, just one date!" ish! When will he learn. "Trevor, cut it out. That joke's not funny!" and finally, naka lagpas na ako sa kanya.

"Ms. Flore, please understand that you need a partner for this project. You can't take it solo this time."

"Please, Ma'am. I can do this on my own, kaya ko po gawin yung buong PowerPoint presentation mag-isa!" she sighed at napa face palm.

"Ms. Flore, for the last time, you can't do this project on your own."

"Pero Ma'am--" susubukan ko pa sanang i-convince si Ma'am Tess pero biglang may umakbay sa akin at nag-cut in sa conversation namin.

"Ma'am Tess! Ako na lang partner niya!"

Ah?

"I approve, now the two of you take a seat and plan for your presentation."

"Tara na, Laura!"

"W-Wait!"

And the next thing I know, pinagtabi na ni Trevor yung arm chairs namin at magkatabi na kami.

"Ang galing mo din no?" I asked with sarcasm practically dripping off my words pero nag shrug lang siya at nginitian ako.

"Bahala na nga! So, what's our presentation gonna be about?" tanong ko and the minute I finished that question, I immediately wanted to take it back.

"Se-"

Kaagad kong sinub-sob yung handkerchief ko sa bunganga niya bago niya matapos yung sasabihin niya.

After ko ma-compose sarili ko, pinanood ko siyang tumawa ng kalakas-lakas na nag teary-eye na siya.

"You're reaction was priceless! I was gonna say Senators but you assumed something else, didn't you?!"

"TREVOR!"

"Ah- ah-ah, Ms. Laura, that's not very lady-like of you."
