I walked over to the bed and buried my face under the covers. I felt his hand touch my back as he tried to sooth me. He wrapped his arms around me and crawled onto the bed. He kissed my forehead as I fell asleep in his arms.
I opened my eyes - blinded with tears - I couldn't see a thing, I reached my hand out to see if he was still there but all I could feel was an empty space on the bed. I stretched out my hands and looked on the floor but still no sign of him. I stood up and climbed out the bed and stumbled downstairs. I needed to go somewhere quiet t to think...pops? too busy. I reached for the door and turned the handle gently and I stepped outside. The wind hit me harsh in the face and chest felt tight. I started walking down the street not knowing where I was going.
