I looked up at him as he turned away from me.

"How long, Carter?"I mumbled loud enough for him to hear. "How long had you been in on this whole thing?"

"Since the start. Just shut up for now, (Y/n). You could've avoided this easily,"he replied coldly.

"How?"

"Easy. If you would've just gave into me that day, you, the kids, and I would be thousands of miles away from here by now."

I blinked a few times.

Wait...Huh?

"What do you mean?"I asked. "I did love you and the kids, (Y/n). And I would've  loved to see the look on that bastard, Shadow's face when he realized I took his pride and joy,"Carter spoke.

"Wow. So, you're saying this whole thing is my fault?"I squinted. "Yes,"he replied.

"So I was either supposed to have an affair with you, dump Shadow, and run off with the kids or stay with him and get the kids kidnapped and possibly killed?"

"That was my plan."

I started kicking my legs like a furious, spoiled child who wasn't getting their way. "You fucking asshole! If you really loved me and the kids so much, you'd protect us! Not hand us over to likes of that fucking psychopathic murder!"I screeched.

Carter hurried over to me, pulled a gun from his pocket, and put the barrel under my chin. "Shut the hell up! It's over now. There's nothing you can do,"he said.

I stared up angrily into his green eyes. "Why would you agree to this? The kids loved you and you betrayed them,"I muttered.

"Money. I don't know where that crazy son-of-a-bitch is getting it from, but he's getting a shit ton of it."

I felt around the back of the chair until I felt a little rusty bolt sticking out the seat.

"Money? That's all. You could go to jail for the rest of your life if you're caught,"I replied. "That's an 'if'. And IF everything goes as planned, then we'll be out of here in the next few hours,"Carter said, rolling up his left sleeve to look at his watch.

"Where are we going?"I questioned.

A loud buzzing noise erupted from Carter's pocket. Ignoring my question, he pulled it out and tapped the screen. He glanced over a message. "Shit,"he muttered, stuffing the phone back into his pocket.

"Carter...where are we going? Answer me."

"Somewhere far...don't worry. The kids will love it. Well, if Sonic doesn't decide to kill them first."

I pull violently at the zip cords on my wrists. "YOU TELL THAT BASTARD TO STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM NY KIDS!"I screeched.

"Yeah, whatever. I'm leaving you here for a bit. So shut the hell up for a while. I'll be back."

Carter hurried out of the room. I sat in silence until I couldn't hear his footsteps anymore. I then hurriedly felt around for the rusty screw again.

I started to scrape the zip tie as fast as I could against it, moving my shoulders side to side.

After pulling and struggling against the ties, I finally came a loose. The ties came apart with a snap. I sighed softly as I rubbed my wrists.

Looking around the room, I noticed that besides the crates, there was an air vent. Big enough for an adult with a small frame. I could try to squeeze through and barely make it but I'd be lost.

No map, not even the slightest clue of where to go. I'd be in there forever before someone actually found me.

I began to hear voices approaching the door so I hid my hands behind my back as if I were still tied up.
