ELENA
I grab my hairbrush and brush my hair back into a tight ponytail. I put on my old jersey that I've had for years and pull on my baseball pants. I tie my cleats and put on my cap before grabbing my bag. I smile to myself before trudging downstairs.
"Somebody's super happy this morning." Esme says with a smile.
"Well can you blame me?" I bounce on my toes.
"Well, your brother will be glad to see you so excited for something." She says with a motherly tone.
"He's just glad I'm not writhing in pain anymore." I state flatly.
"Yes I am. Also we are going on a walk so come on." Emmett says popping out of nowhere and grabbing my arm.
"You're acting like Alice." I say as we walk through the woods. "You know, randomly popping up and dragging people away."
"You don't get questioned when you do that." He retorts.
"Touché." I lean against a tree. "What did you want say?"
"What d-"
"Don't play stupid. You and I both know why you brought me out here. What did you want to tell me?" I cross my arms.
"Those random attacks that have been happening, it's other vampires, and they're getting closer to us- to you." He takes a deep breath. "One of them is also a tracker, if he catches Bella's scent, all hell will break loose between you two. It could potentially be the end of you."
"Head up. You're stronger than that." I command. "Nothing is going to happen to me, Emmett. Whether you like it or not, you're stuck with me, always and forever. Because I'm not going anywhere anytime soon, little brother."
"You'd better." He says.
"Besides, I'd kill the son of a bitch before he got the chance to attempt attacking Bella." I shrug.
"Yeah, yeah, play it off like you're a bad ass." He scoffs.
"I love you, little brother, always and forever." I smile wrapping my arms around him.
"I love you too, big sister, always and forever." He rests his head on my shoulder and I lean mine against his.
"Do you think they could still be alive?" I ask.
"I have hope that they are. Always have. I really do." He replies, not having to ask who.
"It seems like they'd be better off without all the chaos that follows us." I state.
"No child is better off without their mother, besides John needed you more than you needed him."
"We were." I say flatly.
"Were we really ever kids though?" He retorts.
"Touché little brother." I smirk.
"Come on, let's go play some ball."
+++++
I twirl the bat around before positioning myself in place. Alice nods before throwing the pitch. I swing and the ball goes flying, Edward and Emmett chase after it. I run the bases and the ball gets to Esme. I flip over her and land on home plate.
"Safe." Bella shrugs. I stand up and walk to the Jeep. I sit on the hood and Carlisle goes to bat. Alice throws the pitch and Carlisle swings. The ball goes far out, but it stops before it hits the ground.
"Take your hair down and come with me." Edward whispers to Bella. Emmett rushes to my side. Three others walk towards us. My eyes instantly snap to the blonde. The wind blows and he inhales.
"Seems like they bought a snack." He smirks. I growl and stand in front of him, my eyes blood red.
"Back off." I say in a low voice. He moves to get around me and I wrap a hand around his neck. "She's mine." The Jeep speeds away and I drop my hand.
"Elena, come on." Emmett says emotionlessly.

EMMETT
"I don't want to leave her. She needs me." I state. Carlisle had to heavily sedate Elena to ease the pain. James tracked Bella and is going to kill her.
"Babe, I'll stay with her." Rosalie places a hand on my shoulder.
"I have to stay with her." I say.
"If James kills Bella, it will hurt Elena even more. If you want to help her, stop James. It's the only way." Esme says. Elena's eyes flutter before opening.
"You should probably go take care of the pest problem, little brother." She whispers. I scoff before gently squeezing her hand.
"Stay safe, El." I whisper back. "Rosalie if anything happens call me."
