Hi guys, this is my first 1D fanfic, as well as my first story on Wattpad, so comments and feedback would be greatly appreciated. This is only chapter one of the fanfic.

Chapter One - Leaving

Irreconciable differences. I repeated the words over and over again in my head like a broken record. My mother, a complete and utter dweeb, was divorcing my father after twenty four years of marriage and two children. Two adult children, whom she believed could fend for themselves. It was all a load of bull. I had barely turned nineteen and my older brother, Taylor, was only twenty two. Sadly, we were both still leeching off of our parents so they could pay off our college. My dad, Vic, a simple yet smart man, loved my mother with all his heart. He gave her anything and everything she wanted, just so she wouldn't leave him for a younger guy. Unfortunately, he couldn't afford all of her demands, so naturally, the hag left him for someone else. Taylor and I were completely on my father's side. She had her brand new boyfriend, who was about two years older than her son, and her perfect little life out in California, while the three of us were stuck in North Carolina.

"You're a big girl now, Charlotte! You don't need mommy anymore," the evil witch had cooed before she left us.

Granted, my mother and I had never been particularly close. When I was little, she was just as cold hearted as she is to this very day, so I naturally searched for a better mother figure. That's where Gran came in. She was a little old lady who made the best food in all of Long Beach. When she heard that my mom made my dad buy her expensive things, she claimed her daughter was pathetic and useless, which is what we both agreed on. She claimed Taylor and I were the best things she ever got out of my mother. Harsh, but nobody understands how evil my mother is. Sadly, Gran had died about two weeks before my nineteenth birthday. All I had left was Vic, Taylor, and my best friend Andy.

That morning, as my mom pulled away with the last of her belongings, she blew us a kiss out of her  window and zoomed down the street. I knew I'd never see her again. She no longer had custody of me, meaning I didn't have to visit her. I decided to take a stroll on the beach to clear my head. As I stared out into the ocean, I wondered how easy it would be to just drown myself. Just end my life, here and now, so I wouldn't have to put up with all this family drama. Vic would be better off, not having to pay any more tuition for my college. Taylor didn't have to worry about having an annoying little sister anymore. Andy could go back to being popular like he was used to being. Everyone would be happy. I stepped into the water, walking straight forward until it lapped at my thighs.

"Well, it's now or never, Char..." I whispered to myself. Just as I was about to keep walking, my train of thought was interupted by the sound of some boys laughing and cheering happily.

      "Going somewhere, love?"
