DepressionIt can change someone's whole world
You don't get to choose your life
But you can choose how to live it
If you choose to live
Depression
It causes you to feel hopeless
To feel useless
Most people have no idea how it feels
Like you're worthless, you're never enough, and never be good enough
You hate yourself more than anything else
People say you just want attention
Yeah, that can be true, but not in the way you think
They want attention because they are tired of being ignored
Some of the time it's the opposite
And they get too much negative attention
Cutting
They take that razor, knife, scissors, what was once only used for sharpening pencils
And they drag it across their skin to feel something
They need to force themselves to feel something
Because from all the abuse
Whether it be physical, verbal, mental that they suffer
Their emotions are brain dead and have to now be forced
They need some way to relieve
Let their pain and sorrow be released with their blood
They can't say anything back
Because it will just make it worse
Suicide
All the little things you do affect a person's life
Someone can be depressed
They are so close to the edge
Waiting for one final excuse to jump
So that one lie, that one tease, that one shove
Can send someone into the dark abyss
After that, there is no saving them
They think that if they were to die no one would notice
No one would care
They would die believing a lie
So stop
Stop going against basic human morals
Stop using excuses
And start changing your actions
The actions that you once had to make an excuse to cover for
And begin to think
Think about what you do and how it affects others
Quit sending people over the edge
Sending them into a deeper hell that they already live
Cure
You can try to save them but sometimes they are too far gone
People and doctors pretend they understand
They say "just be happy", but sometimes happy is out of reach
They make them take these pills called anti-depressants
But how is a pill supposed to cure a mental state
But on occasion there is still hope
Try being helpful
Stop telling them to "not be sad"
To just be happy
To communicate their emotions
Tell them something they don't already know
Convince them that there is still hope and that you are willing to listen
Willing to be our hope
Depression, it can change someone's whole world

PoetryThis is just a poem I wrote in class. I'm not sure if I will write more on this or not but here it is. Warning, I am not the best writer so I'm not sure how good it will be, but it would be nice if someone read it. (This is also my first publishing)
