New school. New surroundings. New encounters.
That's what Melody thought to herself as she entered the school hallway, finding her locker to put her stuff in before she goes to her class.
First day of school and everything that surrounds her is a mess. Full of people. Really crowded. And she definitely HATES being in crowds.
No can do. She thought to herself. If she would want to be a singer, she'd need to be able to be used to these kinds of crowds. She wasn't used to big crowds since she's been living her 17 years of existence at a province. And now that she's moved into the city, well.. she has to improve her self esteem more.
She didn't feel quite right because she feels like she's being observed from head to toe by everyone. Is it always like this in the city? She thought. But even so, she put on a smile to show to the others her friendly side.
She wasn't a talkative person unless she's comfortable with the person she's talking to. So all her noise was kept inside her head to think about.
"Melody, you're spacing out again." Mia said as Melody closed her locker after she put her things. She is Melody's bestfriend. Mia was already a city girl so she's used to the mess Melody is in.
"We need to hurry and go to class. It'll start soon. You got your things now needed right?" She added.
Melody nodded and then that's when Mia noticed her things. "Woah. What's with all the bunny stickers? And why does it have your name and contact number on?" Mia took Melody's notebook and book and started taking the stickers off.
"The more you give information about yourself to people you don't know, the more risk that you'll be seen vulnerable and can be taken for granted. And please," as soon as Mia was done taking the stickers off she put them back to Melody's hands. "Try not to be too nice to others. I don't want you to have any bad friends that might take you for granted." Looking into her bestfriend's eyes with sincerity.
"Yes mom!~" Melody said cheerfully. Mia just laughed it off and went in their class.
♡♡♡
A few hours later, class have started and the greetings and the attendance were done. Melody was still in a daze thinking that all of this is not a dream and that she really is in the city.. full of people. She just shook her head after that thought. And looked at the window seeing the bushes with flowers and saw a butterfly flew on top of the flower.
Melody has been sitted near the window in the back and was seated next to a guy, who's stone cold. Does this guy ever speak? He hasn't spoke when the teacher called him at the attendance roll call and just raised his hand and yet everyone said "present". She thought to herself.
She didn't listened in the roll call at the attendance so she didn't know his name.
Maybe he's mute?
She then looked to the guy next to him and to what the guy was doing.
He's drawing. Wow! Cool~ a flower with a butterfly on top. Wait, that was what I was looking at!
That's what Melody, thought when the guy glared at her which sent shivers down to her spine. So she looked away.
Creepy.
"Hiro, please read the 2nd paragraph on page 3." Said the teacher. Hiro.. so that's his name.
*sighs* he's good looking alright, but what is it with him and being so freezingly cold?
Everyone including Melody looked at Hiro who's just silently looking at the textbook. The teacher and everyone else was waiting for him to speak. But no words came out from his mouth.
"I said, read it." The teacher said.
"I am." He bluntly said.
"Why can't I hear anything then?"
"You said for me to read it and i did."
"OUT LOUD!" The teacher said furiously. So this guy knows how to joke now huh. Melody thought. Everyone giggled and some laughed out loud.
"Fine. Sheesh. ......." then he started reading.
♡♡♡
They were answering a few math problems and everyone was quiet and then Hiro took Melody's eraser. From her mechanical pencil. Which she was using.
Melody was startled, yes, but she just stared at Hiro with widened eyes with also a hint of annoyment. Hiro made eye contact with her as if he was looking for something which made Melody uneasy then curious so she cocked her head to one side with a confused expression. Hiro just snobbed at her and gave the mechanical pencil back. Though Melody just put it on her desk.
Weird. She thought.
"Hi there." A blonde guy with blue eyes greeted Melody from her front. He was seated in front of her.
"I'm Dylan, nice to meet you." He smiled showing his pearly white teeth and which made his dimples appear and winked. He is crazy handsome. She thought to herself. And smiled at him in return.
After the test everyone passed their papers and began chitchatting with their newly made friends. As for Melody, since Mia was in a different class, she could only be with her during lunch breaks.
The math test was tough. She thought. "Wasn't the problems easy?" Dylan asked her. Why has it have to be the opposite of what i just thought? She just gave him a wry smile but was returned with a gentle smile which made her face flush pink. Then Dylan continued chatting with his friends leaving Melody behind.
She averted her attention to something else and then noticed her seatmate not budging in his seat and is continuing what he was doing earlier.
Drawing.
And surprisingly superb. Its as if the image was brought to life with just the use of a pen and a piece of paper from the back of his notebook.
She hummed a few notes from a calming song she just heard on youtube not realizing, she was looking at her seatmate's jet black hair, brown eyes, not that muscular but i guess a tall profile... she was looking too much at him again.
Ah! I'm staring again. She thought. She was about to look away but she couldn't evade his glare. Yet again.
What is wrong with you!? She thought again. And based on Hiro's expression, he saw Melody's annoyed yet shocked expression on her face. "What?" He asked in an annoyed tone.
"N-nothing. Great drawing.. by the way." She stuttered.
Hiro ignored her and the school bell rang. Meaning, class is dismissed.
"Melody!" Mia yelled to get Melody's attention. They were heading home together since Melody's apartment and Mia's house were in the same neighborhood. Melody, quickly put her things in her bag.
When she got back to her apartment, her phone vibrated and popped up a message. "Hi there cutie~" a shiver went down her spine.
She ignored the text message. But her phone vibrated again. "You busy, princess?"
She turned her phone off, grunting. Weirded out by the situation. Who the heck is this person!? She just focused on what's more important. Homework.
Yes, first day of school yet, tons of homework. And that's just today.
Melody took her stuff from her bag and thought to herself she forgot to bring home her notebook. She forgot it in the locker. She wanted to make a song instead then write her homework somewhere else. But her mechanical pencil was gone.
It was the only thing that has the bunny sticker to it.
With her name and contact number on it.
