The bedroom door slammed, waking me up out of my sleep. I looked over to his side of the bed, everyone of his pillows were on the ground and the picture of us that was once on his end table, laid face down on the floor. This had become a normal routine for us lately. He'd get drunk the night before and start a fight, of course I gave in to each one just like he wanted because I felt it was worth fighting for. Both of us would go to bed angry and the fight would continue into the next morning. I sighed and pulled the covers off me and walked over to put the things back in place. After that, I got a quick shower and then got ready for work. By the time I had gotten downstairs and ready to leave, he was already gone. I'm sure it didn't even phase him that I needed a ride to work. Frantically, I dug through my purse for a few dollars to take a bus. At this point, I would already be late for work.

"You're late." My boss Kyle said in a strict voice. "I'm sorry, the streets are crazy and I had to take the bus." I explained leaving out certain details. Quickly, I put my apron on and started taking orders. I worked at a diner in New York City so we never had a slow day. The people who worked here were all kind but to be completely honest, I never hated a job more. I barley get paid minimum wage and I can't even find a better job since no one hires collage students anymore. "Just a few more weeks." I said to my self over and over again. Just a few more weeks until I'm done collage for good and can get an actual paying job. *ding* the bell rang at the front counter letting me know a customer was waiting at the bar. I pushed the button on the coffee maker and went to take the waiting costumers order. "Can I help you?" I asked as I took the note pad out of my pocket. "Uh yes, I'd like a better waitress." "Excuse me?" I said quite angry. As I looked up, I saw my best friend Hunter sitting there with a big smirk on his face. "Surprise." He laughed. I put the notepad down and smiled, "your a jerk." I told him. "Nice to see you too." He smiled, giving me hug. Honestly, it amazed me how Hunter could be miles and miles away yet he still manages to show up unexpectedly and make my day 10x better!

Hunter's POV -

After 3 months on the road, my tour is finally over and I can see my friends and family. Originally I planned on going straight to Louisiana from Pennsylvania but I decided to make a detour to New York to see my best friend Lexi. We've been best friends since 5th grade but after high school we went our separate ways. She moved to New York with her boyfriend and I kicked off my tour in California. Seeing her was way over due. "So how have you been?" I asked. "Okay, how about you?" She asked as she poured me a cup of coffee. Just by her answer I knew something was up. "Just okay? What's really going on?" I asked. Lexi looked up and gave me 'the look' indicating me to stop asking. I respected her request and changed the subject. "How do you like it here?" I asked. "Ha, I hate it! Honestly I just wanna go home." She confessed. "Then why don't you?" I laughed. "Nate doesn't want to move. He likes the city." I rolled my eyes. I never liked Nate but I would never tell Lexi that. She loved him and all that mattered to me was that she was happy. A few seconds later, Lexi's phone went off. "Speaking of the devil." She laughed as she showed me his name in her message box.

Lexi's POV-

"Won't be home tonight. Going out with a couple of buddies, see you later and sorry for last night. I love you." I had mixed feelings when it came to Nate. He could be the biggest jerk to me sometimes but most of the time he was sweet and I knew he loved me back. "Nate won't be home tonight but you can come over if you want. Have dinner and catch up?" I said to Hunter. "Sounds great! See you tonight." Hunter said as he put his money down on the counter and left.
