Jawo sits in a honeywood tree around 200 feet above the forest floor below. He's looking for what hes been hunting this whole time, about two weeks, he wants to have something to bring home to his father.
"I just wish life was easier for me. I mean yeah I am a noble and all ,but people treat me different than all the other nobles. Do you know what I mean Rolis." Jawo says to his pet Edwase. "I want to be treated like all the other nobles no matter what. I don't care if my dad is the king's right hand man. I want people to get on to me when I do something I know I shouldn't"
"Get over it" says Rolis, "You've got it better off than most people do at your age. You get treated better embrace it, don't shy away from it."
Rawo sees what he has been looking for while Rolis rambles.
"Rolis look over there," Rawo says, "do you see what I see?"
"Jawo you get blinder by the minute there's...nothing...there."
"Not there the other side you doofus, no wonder my dad doesn't trust you, You don't pay attention to the same things we do. Now if you listen to me you'll see the flock of Cloe's that came from the supposed place where the Caron live, that's if they are real that is."
"Rawo the Caron as real as you and me."
"Then how come we don't see them. Answer that for me why don't you."
"Because they are shy bastards that's why. You are always told of their feats of strength and glory, but never of when they run away. Why do you think the bards never have a new story to tell, or song to sing. Because the Caron's are a race scared of our power, we are stronger than them.
"Rolis are you to prideful for your size. If everything you say is true, then you are just like them. You never stand up for yourself and in that you are weak."
"I hate you. You know that right," says Rolis.
Jawo leaps down about 150 feet when a branch breaks when he lands on it.
"Rolis help me here. I'm falling you blind bird."
Rawo lands on the soft ground below making a flock of Yeartes burst out of the brush near him and run away.
"Owww, Rolis you useless bird! You let me fall didn't you."
"Oh you were falling I didn't know."
"Oh so you didn't see me flailing as I was falling, or hear me scream your name?!?! What is your problem Rolis all I did was call you as cowardly as the Carons, if they exist. It's not my fault you are to prideful for yourself, or the very person you are supposed to be watching over."
"Shut up! You humans are so self centered."
Jawo walks away from Rolis huffing and puffing. He passes herds of deer and he doesn't try to hurt them he just... walks. When he reaches the edge of the Iertear. He looks for his white maned Waer.
"Herot where are you? Herot come here... Herot?"
Jawo walks until he finds where he left Herot to graze. He walks into the clearing and sees large footprints the size of his bedroom. And near them he sees Herot's prints splayed about in a frenzy as if he was frightened. Jawo walks twenty feet to the opposite edge of the clearing and sees another giant footstep ten yards out with Herots reins next to it in a mangled mess.
Jawo walks away slowly grumbling "whatever creature took, ate, or harmed Herot shall face a punishment worse than a thousand deaths."
"Jawo calm down it was just a horse once i'm full grown, well almost full grown, you can ride me. Then you will have no need for a useless horse."
"Damn it Rolis that wasn't my horse, it was my mother's. When she died, or left as my father believes, she left her horse with a note saying 'When Jawo be of the age to fit my horse,it shall become his and will use it till he decides to close his eyes for the last time.'"
"Well then just send your fathers men out in search of this beast and your stupid horse."
Jawo pulls out his bow and strings it, and lets loose about five arrows all directed in Rolis direction.
"Hey all I did was state the truth horses are stupid and useless when you have a magnificent animal like me."
Jawo sprints as fast as he can to get home and away from Rolis and his bad judgement on the meaning of things, no matter who they are from.

Jawo gets home and runs up the 4 flights of rough cold marble to his room. He reaches his room after what feels like an eternity. He turns around and locks his door, just to turn around and see Rolis perched on the corner post of his bed.
"Jawo you know you can't beat me here, and might I say you are slow very much so. I've been waiting for awhile."
"Shut up Rolis! Get out of my room leave the castle for a while do not burden me with your bad judgements on things and their worth."
"Jawo I'm so..."
"Rolis enough leave this castle and don't come back until you hear the ram horn blow five times! Now leave me be!"
"Ok... I'm sorry Jawo. Truly, I am."
Rolis flies away to his nest on the edge of the forest and waits to hear the ram horn blow five times.
Jawo walks over to his balcony and stands there crying.
"Mother are you there or are you dead like everyone tells me and dad. Please answer me, if you are alive then answer me please. I... need... you."
"Jawo come downstairs for dinner now please" says Jawos father.
"Coming father."
Jawo gets up off the ground where he kneels and walks over to the glass doors, opening them and walks through to his room. When he reaches the stairs he hears a female voice call from underneath his balcony "sir are you alright."
Jawo walks back to his balcony and looks down to see a woman looking up at him.
"What's your name girl."
"All because you are up there doesn't mean you can speak down to me. Now if you must know my name it is Melancia. Before you ask I am not a noble, nor am I a peasant. I am better than peasants , but not as good as a noble."
"Well nice to meet you Melancia, I'll try not to talk down to you next time. Would you like to come in?"
"No, but thank you for the offer. Now I must be going, goodbye."
Jawo leaps from his balcony and lands behind Melancia. He grabs her arm.
"Let go of me! I don't want to go into your monster of a house."
"I'm not asking you if you want to. I just want to walk with you."
"Well grabbing my arm isn't a good way to ask, just hope you know that."
"Well sorry, I'll try not to make that mistake again. Now where are we going."
"Well I'm going home, where you are going I don't know."
"Where do you live? I could get us horses to ride out there."
"I live in the part of the forest where no horse has ever trotted, and no being has walked."
"Oh... well I guess I will be the other being to walk there besides you."
"You are not going to be coming with me to my house. You can walk with me to the edge of the forest and then you will turn around and go home. That is final."
