We would stare into each other's eyes,
my brown into your blue.
Before we kissed,
after we woke up,
when we glanced across a room to feel the magnetic pull
of the other's gaze.
It was our "I love you."
We needed no words,
no other recognition.
But what you didn't realize
until neither of us could look at the other at all,
was that I only looked in your eyes
to stare at my own reflection
and say "I love me."
