Casey's POV
"Don't worry, he's going to be alright. Maybe a bit woozy, but other than that, he didn't lose too much blood."
I slowly opened my eyes. Immediately, light blinded me. Then it seemed to come all at once. Sharp pain cut through my side, like a knife. I groaned and tried to clutch it, but I couldn't move. The pain shot up my body once more.
“Ow...” I muttered. I looked up once my vision was clear, and Dahlia was standing right over me, a determined look on her face.
“Hey, you’re awake, Sleeping Beauty.” I heard an oh-so-annoying voice chuckle. I rolled my eyes over to Hyde, who was leaning against the wall of my room, smirking.
“It’s my war injury.” I retorted, and tried to sit up. Bad move. It felt like a million needles plunged into my skin, and I fell back down onto my bed.
“Sit still! You’ll just reopen your wound, moron.” Dahlia chastised. I finally had the nerve to look down to see my lower torso wrapped in bandages. Dahlia was trying to readjust them, tightening them as tightly as she could.
“How are you feeling?” Ash asked, walking over and standing on her toes to see over Dahlia. I don’t see why, that woman is at least 6 foot and Dahlia is about the size of a leprechaun. Well, to me 5’4 is leprechaun height.
“Do I look okay, woman?” I snorted. She rolled her eyes at me and shared a look with Dahlia, who smirked. Damn, do women have the ability to read each other’s minds or something?
“I’d suggest you be nice. Dahlia did save your life, after all.” Lilly said on the other side of the bed. Dahlia laughed. She looked a mess really, dirty clothing, messy hair, and dark circles under her eyes, like she had been working nonstop for hours.
She might have been, I realized. Trying to heal me. I flushed at the realization. Dahlia fixed the bandages to her liking and stood up with a triumphant grin. I faintly smelled the odor of my blood, tiny spots left on her fingers. Then, I truly looked at all their injuries.
Dahlia had bruises up her arm and tiny scratches, here and there, but other than that, she seemed okay. The other’s weren’t so lucky. Ash had a long gash going from her temple to the corner of her mouth, and her nose looked swollen. Lilly’s neck had bruises all over it, like she had been choked. McKaylia, who had just come into the room, pulled her long hair up and I noticed the ginormous bruise on her back, visible by her backless dress, she also had a cut on her shoulder, and Hyde... Well, Hyde definitely had a broken nose. And probably some broken knuckles, too. He had a black eye, which I think helped his appearance more. Hell, I probably don’t look like a ray of sunshine either.
Dahlia pulled up my covers and ‘tucked me in’. “You need rest, that’s the only way you can get better.” She said in an authoritative tone, and I glared at her. Instead of fighting, however, I just grumbled a somewhat incoherent agreement. I was tired. In minutes I was asleep.
Dahlia’s POV
I motioned for everyone to follow me out of Casey’s room, once I heard his steady breathing. Once everyone was out, I slowly closed the door behind me and headed up to my room silently. No one stopped me. I hurried through my doorway and closed my door. Slowly, very slowly, I sunk down into the floor, tears threatening to spill. I had to be strong for everyone. Casey was alright, everyone was alright.
Still...
Everyone knows I’m here now. People will be looking for me, now. I’m not stupid. Those hunters will come back, too. Everybody might not live the next time they do.
