With just one look, when I saw your face
       I fell in love

"My God, just look how big the room is! Damn, is this even a room?" Rebecca whispered to Narcissa, while her eyes held wonder as she looked around the huge ball room of the Eunice Eudora, the walls lined with flowers and various other decorations. She was holding Persephone's hand with her left hand. To her right was Narcissa, holding Edward's hand in her right one. Behind them was Liam, holding Sharon's hand in his right hand and to his left were the twins- Aubrey and Audrey. Astoria and Jonathan were leading the way, with Aria clinging to Astoria's hand. Jonathan was talking to his business associates and greeting old friends. Liam snorted at Rebecca's excitement but didn't make any comment.  He didn't want to voice his thoughts, about how they were virtually trapped here in a room filled with vampires. For all he knew, they were creatures who killed ruthlessly to satisfy their thirst.

His eyes roamed the room for Ignatius. He was a beacon of light and hope and joy to him. He was the only light for Liam in this dark, cruel world. Liam wanted to feel his arms around him, hear his heart beat in his chest, feel his lips on his own, feel his body press against his and feel his warmth. He wanted to get away from the room, where lecherous eyes followed him. They craved human beings for their blood and the immense pleasure they could get from their bodies. But beyond that, humans were the slaves- the confined- while the supernatural beings were the masters, controlling them.

After a few introductions, Liam could feel Sharon tugging at his hand. "What is it , Ronnie?"

"Let go! I'm a big girl. Stop treating me like a child!" Sharon huffed. The older siblings were instructed to take care of the younger ones so that they don't get lost. Each elder one had been assigned to a younger one: Narcissa for Edward, Rebecca for Persephone, Liam for Sharon and the twins were let to be since they were old enough to take care of themselves. Aria had stuck onto her parents.

"I know, Ronnie. But I can't leave you just like that. You may get lost. You are my responsibility."

"Please, Li! I won't get lost." She gave him a look that was like a wounded kitten. He finally gave in.

"Okay, fine. I'll leave you with the others but promise me you won't roam around."

"Okay, promise." She linked her pinky with his, kissed his cheek- standing on her tip toes as he leaned down- and dragged him to where the others were seated.

Narcissa saw them coming and a beautiful smile lit her face. Liam said to her, "Ronnie here is too cool to hold her brother's hand, so I thought I'd better leave her here with you guys. Just make sure she doesn't roam around." Just as Narcissa was about to say something, Rebecca, who was standing beside her said, "And you are going to go look for Ignatius, aren't you?" Her tone was accusing.

Liam nodded his head. Then she started, "I really don't get what you see in him. He is just ordinary. You, my brother, are destined for extraordinary things in life. Just look around you. Here is where you belong- the rich and the powerful. You don't need something as mundane and mortal as him. You are handsome and charming, Liam. You deserve better than a filthy human being. And you are a Payne. We have a reputation to uphold since Adrienne's wedding."

"That's enough, Rebecca." Liam whispered so that only Rebecca and Narcissa could hear him. "I don't want to fall in love with blood- sucking leeches and flesh- eating werewolves and wicked wizards. I know he'll never be good enough in your eyes but he is more than perfect in my eyes. I love him and at the end of the day, that is the only thing that matters."

She looked him in the eye and said, "You are too good for a human. He doesn't deserve you." She walked away.

"Hey, that's okay, Li. You know she-" Narcissa was cut off by a Lord.
