[ READERS... Well , this is my first write-up and I'm totally unknown about how'll I perform . I've read many of your stories and I'm really inspired. It's my pleasure to take my part in Wattpad . Do pick out my mistakes . All of your appreciation and criticism will be welcomed wholeheartedly. This article is about the social evil " Dowry " . I'm really looking forward towards your comments . I hope you like my writing . So, here it goes . ]

" Dowry isn't a mere evil , but the mother of many evils . "
From the above quoted statement , we get a rough idea about how nasty the dowry system is . It is is currently the pay toll for 2.5 billion people . This is the system in which the bridegroom's family places an extensive demand of property or a handsome amount of cash . They threaten them to pay or to walk away . In India , it is believed to be a very exasperating situation for the girl's parents when they aren't able to marry off their child with a proper dowry . They get too tensed about what the society will say and all the other criticisms . They try their best and give up all their savings in the marriage . But even after all the needs being fulfilled the groom's family is not contented . They ask for more and more . This is when the matter gets more dreadful . There's a danger to the newly wed girl's life and even her parents . In India , a girl is killed every 20 minutes due to the lack of dowry . We can see that even some of the parents suicide in some of these cases . I consider it a very horrid time period especially for the girl's family .
