Max's POV
I laid under the skylight in my room staring at the moon and stars. I had tried to kill my own brother a couple hours earlier. I wondered if he had actually made it out alive or if he was one of the 30 other people found murdered. My thoughts were interrupted when Pops knocked on the door.
"Maximillian we need to talk" His voice had no liqueur behind it.
I grunted and got up, walking over to the door. He was standing at the door frame smiling down at me.
"Can I come in sleepy head" He motioned to my pajamas.
"Yah" I grumbled trying to mimic a sleepy person.
He sat on my twin size bed, easily taking up half. I plopped down by him and looked up at him.
"What's up Pop?" I rested my head agents his arm.
"Remember when you arrived here?" he started. "They dropped you off like a piece of meat. You were so scared of everyone and I tried to get you to warm up to us. I built this room only for you with a special lock and gave you the resources you needed to gain experience in the family"
I remembered all too well. I was mute for months after I was just dropped here.
"I am getting to old to be leader now and my deputy has been gone for me to even consider handing the family to him."
No. no no no. don't say it-
"I want to make you the new leader Maxie" he looked down at me.
"But I'm only eighteen." I moved away a bit to get a good look at his face to make sure he wasn't lying.
"You also just blew up a police MA station and last month you wreaked a billionaire bank account." Well I mean true yes I did that but I am not fit to run this joint.
"But i-"
"It's a little late to say no by the way" he chuckled. "I already put in my resigning papers"
"What?!"
