8 A.M. when the alarm starts whining,

an eastward window and the sun is blinding.

Get up slow and stumble to the car,

But just my luck, it doesn’t start.

Made my way to the highway,

But what’s coming my way?

A car flies by with orangish hues,

A truck close behind with weight to lose.

Tugging along a trailer two lanes wide,

And two miles of traffic on the other side.

This isn’t what I need and I’m already late,

To hell with work the boss can wait.

Right down a gravel road,

I need to release some steam before I overload.

Hit the brakes too hard, now in in a ditch,

Climb out of the car because today is a bitch.

My phone starts to ring, it’s my boss and he’s wired,

This was my last chance, that’s it, I’m fired.

I call my girlfriend and tell her todays been rough,

But too bad for me, even she’s had enough.

I throw my hands up and let my phone fly,

Sit in the dirt and stat to cry.
