"On the pontoon, makin' waves and catchin' rays up on the roof."  The music was blasting as I sat in the passenger seat of my aunts rental. I almost instantly put my earphones in and open up my twitter app.

"Last day in Illinois is officially over," I tweeted then closed my app, sighing. I've had my fair share of goodbyes with my friends, I really don't need to see anymore. I turn my music up a little louder and look out the window to take in my last view of this beautiful city. I grew up here, its hard to say goodbye. The tall skyscrapers filled my view as I admired them almost the same way as I did the first time I saw them. Tons of cars and pedestrians busily filled the street, calling for taxis and trying to get home to their families for the night. It reminds me of tons of scrambling mice. I have gotten so used to the city over the years, I'm really gonna miss it.  I remember when I first moved to Chicago, there was a skyscraper beginning to be built, as it grew I did too. Now the skyscraper is one of the tallest in the city. I   like to think of myself as being a new skyscraper, beginning to be built. I pray that this time though, I won't be knocked down.

"Your dad is meeting us at the airport, right?" My aunt asked while focusing on the busy traffic. Of course it would be rush hour right now.

"I think so..."  I said trailing off and focusing on the view again.

"Shoot him a text saying we will be there in 10," She said.

Message to- Daddy <3

Hey, we will be at the airport in 10 minutes.

A few minutes later I got a text back from my dad, it said.

Sorry sweetie I don't think I will be able to leave work. I love you and have fun with Shirley!

Wow. I read the message over and over again just to make sure that it said he wouldn't be there. Don't cry Lilah, don't cry, he tried to take off. Tears started to form in my eyes and my view was blurred. I whiped the tears away and took a deep breath. Oh for gods sake, my own father isn't even going to say goodbye to me before I move to god knows where. Will he even miss me? Did he even try to take off? My thoughts were interrupted by a warm arm wrapped around me. I looked out my window and saw the airport.

"He's not coming, is he?" Aunt Shirley asked.

"Ho- how did you know?" I asked her. I looked out the window and saw a little girl holding her dads hand and walking into the airport. Then, I completely lost it. I pulled Aunt Shirley in for a hug and cried onto her shoulder. She smelt like cheap perfume and cigars. Normally this smell would bug me, but right now I didn't care.

"Your father never seemed to reliable," She said hugging me back. "I'm so sorry honey, but we have to go in now or we'll miss our flight." We got out and she grabbed my bags for me. Aunt Shirley seemed so much nicer than my mom and dad, that's for sure.

After going through all the luggage checks and metal detectors, we finally got in line to board our plane. Aunt Shirley was right, if we waited any longer we would have missed the flight. We sat towards the front of the plane so that when we landed we could get off super quick. I took the window seat and got my pillow out, hopefully I can sleep this off. Wait, where the fuck are we going?

"Um, Aunt Shirley? Where do you live?" I asked nervously.

"Lilah, sweetie, your mom didn't tell you where I live?" She asked almost shocked.

"Nope, she said it was going to be a surprise," I said.

"Oh dear," She said looking like she was going to pass out. "Lilah, I live in Texas, Groesbeck Texas. Its a small, country town. I have a farm 8 miles out of town. Please just bear with it before you start hating it. I know its a huge difference from Chicago, but you'll love it!"

"Oh my god," I whispered and looked out my window at the sun setting. I am just going to sleep this off and then maybe I can schedule a flight back to Chicago tomorrow.

A/N What do you think of the story so far? Don't worry its going to be getting saucy soon :)
