I sighed as I paced back and forth in my bedroom. I had finally gotten my casts off except for the one on my arm. I was glad to at last be able to do things for myself. But still, glasses of juice had to be poured and sandwhiches still sometimes had to be fixed with the help of Jackson or Momma and Daddy. Speaking of my parents, they had told me to stay in my room until they told me to come out. Though they reassured me that I wasn't in trouble, I wondered what all the fuss was about. I jumped ten feet, I kid you not, when Jackson walked in.
"Mom and Dad want you in the living room." Jackson said.
Relief lifted off of my shoulders. What felt like forever had only been fifteen minutes in my room. I followed my brother out the door slowly and walked down the stairs into the living room. Momma and Daddy were both sitting on the couch. They smiled as they both saw me and Jackson walk over and join them.
"Jackson, you can go back to your room now." Momma said as she placed a hand on his leg.
Jackson scoffed and I tried to bite back a laugh. He had been grounded for the past two days for missing his curfew when he went bowling with his friends. His punishment was staying in his room and doing homework for a whole week. His grades had been slipping anyways.
"Come on, I want to hear what's going to happen." Jackson said.
"This doesn't concern you Jackson." Daddy explained. "I suggest you go get started on that Algebra homework. I'll be in there here in a few minutes to help you with it."
Jackson sighed and said, "Alright...fine!!!" With that, he stompped back up the stairs to his room.
I turned back to my parents and placed my hands on my knees.
"So, what's up?" I asked.
"Well, its October." Daddy began. "The CMAs are coming up at the middle of next month and your mother has some kind of convention to go to out of state."
Momma had taken up making/selling jewelry in her spare time, and it had became quite the success in the Country Music world. Apparently all the female artists were wanting her pieces for their photo shoots and even award shows.
"What your Daddy is trying to say is that I will not be here to go with him to the CMAs this year." Momma said. "Even though he's up for the biggest award of the night."
Yep, my father was nominated for Entertainer of The Year. I had a feeling he was going to win it all, because he had sold out every single arena/stadium tour he had done this past year.
"Anyways, I was wondering if you wanted to go with your dear old Dad this year?" Daddy asked.
I was shocked. I had never gotten to go to an award show, only because all the shows were on school nights and I always had tons and tons of homework. I couldn't believe I was actually going to get to go pick out a dress, and walk the red carpet with Daddy. Before Momma and Daddy were married, when he would bring a date he would walk the carpet alone but when he met Momma, he refused to let her be alone. He knew she brightened up that red carpet just as much as he did.
I smiled and nodded my head, giving my parents the answer that they were looking for. I knew Daddy wanted Momma to go with him with every ounce of his being, but he knew she wanted to go to that convention. I knew it was going to be stressful getting ready for this award show as well, trying to find a dress with one broken arm. I also knew that Momma and Daddy were going to be there with me every step of the way.
Hey guys, sorry for such a short chapter. I just wanted to get something written. The next chapter is going to be longer I promise
