Dawn and two enormous soldiers remain in the interrogation room. Through a two-way mirror, Nathan observed the room. He stood stiffly. Forgetting to breathe.
"Don't you think this is a little... harsh Sergeant?" Nathan nervously whispered to the man beside him. He was a muscly man with cold set eyes. On the sleeves of his khaki uniform, there were three chevrons.
The Sergeant answered without breaking contact with the window in front of them, "Do you know what this woman has done?". Nathan adverted his eyes from the Sergeant and continued to stare at Dawn through the glass, where Dawn's head was being forcefully submerged into a bucket of water by two soldiers.
"You're a man of the lord, Sir" Nathan stated, "This is against the rules set in the Bible, and contradicts Christ's own word." Dawn's head resurfaced, her eyes were bloodshot and her complexion was a shade or two paler than normal. She spat out water and blood before being drowned again.
"Her sins are indescribable, Son." The Sergeant looked towards him, his eyes blazing with anger. "Her actions are comparable to that of Satan himself, or in this case, herself." He shook his head, "this is what happens when a man gives freedom to a woman, it has been spoken of in the Bible, the satanic powers of a bitch." The Sergeant sternly looks at Nathan, "I believe she will descend to hell one day, but I will not stand by and wait for her punishment".
Nathan's eyes glossed over as Dawn submerged over and over again. "The singular women-lead terrorist group proves to be the most threatening in human history. Dawn is only the first of many to be tortured and possibly killed, isn't that right?" Nathan asked. The room fell silent.
"Dawn is the representation of a woman with education and freedom. This is not a coincidence son. Look at what she is, Nathan. She abused her freedom. This terrorist group is growing in numbers every second of every day. A world run by women is a world I refuse to live in."
Nathan nodded, "yeah, of course". Satisfied, the Sergeant diverts his attention towards the two soldiers now exiting the interrogation room. Dawn was left half-drowned, huffing and gargling in a puddle of vomit on the floor.
One of the soldiers walked in, "we got something, Sergeant. We know where the next attack is" the soldier smiled. The sergeant orders the soldier to seize the interrogation. Minutes later, Dawn is being dragged out of the room like a sewer rat from a city drain.
Nathan, frozen, stood at the window watching her. He felt a hand on his shoulder, "Nathan, in the meantime, we need to eliminate and control the women. Do you want to obey a girl?".
Nathan shook his head.
His stomach ached and his heart sank. Something about this was not right. Dawn is only one of billions. We cannot punish every woman because of the actions of a handful. What if the handful is a representation of the whole? He needed to go see this violence himself. He had only heard whispers from his superiors and news outlets.
Through everything, Nathan could not help but feel empathy. She's only a girl.
