I stood on the old wooden balcony like always and stared out into the woods. The woods seemed to call to me, the leafs of the trees glistened in the sunlight. Our house is so far from everyone and everything, sometimes I just want to leave this place and explore the world.
"Bree, come down for lunch," grandmother called. I sighed and reluctantly walked downstairs. The stairs creaked everytime I went down a step. I made my way to the kitchen. The wallpaper was all stained and pieces of it were scraped off the wall. I've seen this for years, but eww this place is filthy.
I sat down at the dining table and waited for the food to be served. "Hey grandma, I said. "Can I go to town today?" My grandmothers face turned pail and she looked at me sternly. "No, you will stay here and help me clean the house," she replied. I nodded slightly and looked down at the empty table. Why was she so mad? What is she trying to hide? I need to know.
Shortly after that awkward conversation, grandma set in front of me a bowl of warm spaghetti from last nights dinner. She handed me a cup of milk with it. I thanked her and began to eat.
After lunch was over, I decided to take a walk outside. I went to my favorite place in the woods, the old tree stump that has been there for years. Beyond this point, I haven't crossed in years. Once three years ago, when I was twelve years old I crossed this point. My grandmother dragged me inside and sent me to my room. After that, I was lectured for hours to stop at the stump, but the stump is the closest I'll ever get to freedom.Authors Note: Thanks for reading this, I'll try to add to this soon.
