"THREE DAYS until you leave me for the year." Macey frowned with her arm in mine as we skipped across the sidewalk.

"And it'll feel like nothing since we'll text and visit each other whenever we can. It'll be like I'm still here all the time, don't worry." I laughed as the people passing gave us glares or smiles. Macey nodded, not really in agreement but more of a 'yeah, i guess.'

"We should probably visit The Marie Café before we head back. What do you think?" I gestured, stopping in front of the tiny café where we had first met eight years ago. We originally had talked about the pun within the name of the café and it became beautiful from there.

"Hmm," She stood, starring up at the sign and then back down to me. "I mean, I guess." She shrugged jokingly and walked inside with me. We both separated, one going over to the counter to order and the other sitting over in our usual little booth.

"Well, hello Hanna! The usual?" Mrs. Jamison asked enthusiastically as I smiled, with a nod.

"Hey Mrs. Jamison! How are the grandkids?" I asked, keeping a slight conversation as she explained to me how her grandson just went to his first orientation for school. I responded kindly as she made our usual, which was mostly marshmallows, caffeine, and caramel. It was a favorite of Macey's that she had shown me and it's been 'our' drink ever since.

"Two of the usual," Mrs. Jamison smiled, "I'll miss you lots, Hanna." She said, handing me the two warm coffees and an extra fresh, chocolate chip cookie.

"I'll miss you lots too." I smiled, feeling a pang of sadness even though I knew I wouldn't be gone forever. It would only be a year and I just have to remember that. I thought to myself as I carried the two mugs over and placed them on the squared table. Macey had looked excitedly at the drink and pulled it up to her mouth, blowing air on it as she waiting for it to cool. I had sat down on the other side of the booth and pulled my drink over as well.

"So, has your mom talked about the trip lately?" Macey asked swiping a paper napkin across her mouth afterwards. I shrugged, taking a small sip of the warm liquid and smiling in delight. This was one thing I knew I would miss the most, other than my friends.

"A lot actually, but she says she's trying to keep it to a minimum since she knows I wouldn't be able to go. I don't really mind all that much but it would've been interesting to be able to tag along with her." I rambled as Macey nodded, listening to me as I kept going along.

"Do you want to help me back up the last of my stuff?" I asked as Macey stood in the doorway of my room. She nodded, walking in and cleaning off the nightstand next to my bed.

"Where are you sleeping in your Aunt's house anyways?" She asked, gently wrapping the fragile items in newspaper before placing them in the box.

"The have an extra room from when Alicia was living with them. When she left for the navy they had made it a guest room." I explained, closing up a box and taping it shut.

I had looked around and sighed in relief as I saw that everything was packed and ready. "Thanks for the help." I smiled and Macey embraced me into a hug.

"I'm gonna miss ya, weirdo." She joked, slowly letting go of our current state and helping me take the filled boxes downstairs.

"I'll miss you way more, believe me." I replied with a chuckle, looking at each step as I went.

"Probably not." She shrugged as we laughed, continuing the task of bringing all of the boxes downstairs.
