Dr. Hakim looked worried, the operation seemed unsuccessful. He gathered courage and walked out.
Aazma's parents rushed to the door, when they saw Dr. Hakim out of the Intensive care unit.
Uncontrollably, the mother pushed herself inside but the doctor stood on her way and her husband held her tight.Hardly able to hear his own voice, father asked, "Doctor sahib... My.. my.. Daughter?
Dr. Hakim's forehead crumpled further and he drew his eyebrows closer. He then took a deep breath and began, "we tried our level best.. But.. It's already too late! ..any miracle, it's up-to Allah.. We are sorry sir! ". This was one of the very few unsuccessful surgeries that he faced and it brought guilt and heaviness in his heart. He too prayed silently that some miracle would happen and his patient would revive. At the very mention of miracle, helpless mother fainted. Unable to take the burden of his guilt.. Father buried his face in her hands and wept painfully, "Aazmaaa beti.. I'm..m sorry.... Very... (sobs).. Sorry...! ".
The cries turned silent and the air seemed unhappy too. Hearts and clouds turned heavy and poured.
Aazma was lying physically dead in the ICU, draped in blue and white. Her subconscious mind in a lifeless body, could only recall faintly, the affectionate eyes of her beloved. Those bright eyes with a warm smile that she last saw, which waved a goodbye in the darkness of the misty winter night. That warmth embraced her even at the moment where she lies cold . As cold as that night, four years ago, when she last saw Aadheesh .......alive!
Realizing her soul's urge to withdraw from her body, she prayed to god that she would want another life. Catching her last breath she whispered to her soul. "I wish.. I was a Hindu Aadheesh. I'm coming.... "
The rains stopped at once ...as if the news of her death shocked them. The cardiac monitor sang the music of death and then in a moment, the sky began weeping, heavily!
