"Gloomy bitch!"
A strong, sloppy punch connects with my upper back as I topple over onto my hands and knees.
I feel a kick connect with my side and I fall further onto my face, grazing the bottom of my chin on the hard concrete floor. Pale skin scraping from my face.
"P-please stop... Juvia is hurt-"
One of them sits on my back, pulling my head off of the ground by my hair. I feel stands rip from my scalp as his grip tightens. He roughly turns my bruised face toward his.
"Stop talking like that! It's weird!"
Another one punches me in the face over and over until I feel blood drip from my lip onto the ground. I wince in pain as I feel the harsh rain wash the dark blood from my face.

Water is so beautiful, it can be whatever it wants... it can be whatever it wants... and you can't hurt it. As I was being beaten and battered by the bullies I made a wish.

'I wish I was like water,'

It was as if I had become one with the water as it fell from the sky because, they weren't hurting me anymore...

I hear their harsh cursing as their hands go through my skin. Both relieved and scared, I touch my lip witch was previously split open as metallic blood dripped from it like the rain itself- however now, it's just my soft pink lip, not a single scar in sight, big nor small.
The people previously taunting me run for the hills. Horrified looks spread across their faces as they trip and fall like they're racing their deaths.

I lay exhausted on the ground for a moment, feeling the rain and I becoming one, the droplets hitting my skin and sinking into my body. After a few minutes, I feel the rain stop. When opening my eyes however, it still poured down.
A small angry boy stands next to me. Holding an an umbrella towards me. I sit up slowly, staring at his pierced face. He kisses his teeth and stares at me expectingly.
"T-thank you,"
I see a small smile in his eyes yet his face remains cold.
"Don't mention it,"
His messy hair falls down to his back and he has a scowl permanently glued to his face.
"Juvia is very thankful, you are very kind,"
He rolls his eyes yet a small trace of his smile remains.
"I'm guessing you're Juvia? That'll get annoying fast won't it..."
As he looks back to me again, he holds out his arm for me to take.
"What's your name?"
I look at him as i ring out my skirt, water falls to my feet, soaking them through to my socks.
"Gajeel,"
He runs a hand through his hair.
"How old are you anyway?"
As he speaks I smile at him.
"Juvia turned 10 last week,"
Laughing to himself, he ruffles my short, wet hair.
"Well then kid, I'll look after you,"

"Juvia is glad!"

For the first time in years, I felt like someone cared, the ceaseless rain didn't stop however I knew from that day fourth, the boy would protect me from it- along with the troubles that followed.
