Prologue
A family of five was sitting in their living room. A mom, a dad, a daughter, and two sons.
The two sons, Archie and Reggie, were sitting on the couch, when Reggie piped up.
"Can I have some of your popcorn, Archie?" he asked.
"No," Archie, the bigger boy, replied. "You finished yours alrea—"
"Huh?" Reggie asked, getting aggravated.
"Sure, Reggie. You can have the whole bowl."
As Reggie began eating, he said, "Mom, my feet are cold."
His mother got up and put a blanket over his legs.
"Better?" she asked.
"Much," he replied. "Thanks. Sara, I could use another pillow behind my head."
His sister looked at him. "Puffy or flat?"
"The puffy one, please."
As she put the pillow behind his head, Reggie turned to his dad.
"Hey, Dad, can I borrow the car tomorrow?"
"Um..." his father thought. "Tomorrow's fine, Reggie. Would you like me to take it to the car wash first?"
"You guys are the best," Reggie said, standing up.
"How about a group hug?" he asked, arms outstretched.
His family just stared, so he said it louder.
"I said, GROUP HUG!"
They all circled around him, hugging him.
They were stuck in a warehouse.
"We're the closest family ever."Now
"What kind of mess did you get us into?!?"
Superboy was running through a forest, Robin tagging along on his back.
"I gave you all the pertinent information on the situation!" Robin hollered back. "You knew full well what we were getting into!"
"What are you talking about?" Superboy hollered back, confused. "You lied to me!"
"Not true! I simply didn't tell you everything."
As they continued on, Superboy said, "There's too many of them!"
"Dial it back and get control of yourself," Robin yelled. "Put me down! We're done running! It's time for Robin and Superboy to take a stand!"
"Why's your name first?"
"I'm older."
"I'm taller."
"Shut up."Hamilton County
300 Miles From Metropolis
Two Days EarlierJon Kent walked through the cold winter arid, down the snowy road to wait for his bus, yawning.
"Mornin'," said the man driving the bus. "Step lively."
"Where's Pat," Jon asked, "the regular driver?"
The old man replied, "Out sick. I'm filin' in."
As Jon got on, he sat next to his friend, Kathy.
"Hey Kathy, did you finish your book report?" he asked her.
"Yeah," she answered. "Wasn't so hard."
Suddenly, they heard laughter behind them.
"Stop duckin' and open your mouth— its only candy— dessert for breakfast!"
Two boys were shooting spitballs at Alan, another kid in Jon's class.
"Come on, guys. Stop—" he was saying, before Jon stood up.
"What are you doing, Jon?" Kathy whispered, alarmed. "Don't get in the middle of this."
"I can't just sit here and do nothing," he said, walking over to them. "Frank, Bryan, can't you just leave him alone?"
The two boys just chuckled. "Who do you think you are? Superman?"
They shot spitballs at him and laughed.
"Sit down back there!" the driver yelled. "And cut out the nonsense!"
"Yes sir," Jon said, sitting down.
"See, I told you so," Kathy said.Later that day...
As the bell rang, and kids ran out of the school, Jon got an idea. He rolled up a snowball and smiled.
"Um, what're you doing, Jon?"
"Perfect consistency."
"For what?"
"A snowball fight," Jon said. Kathy smiled behind him, excited. "Let's get Olivia and choose sides."
A voice behind him said "Don't worry about sides. We've already picked ours."
It was a group of bullies, one being one picking on Alan earlier.
"Well, okay then," Jon said. "Let the war begin!"
As everyone began to throw snowballs, one of the kids on the other team said, after getting hit in the face, "Wanna make this more interesting, Sam?"
"Yeah," another kid, obviously Sam, replied.
They rolled up more snowballs and yelled, "Let 'em have it!"
As they threw, Jon and his friends noticed something.
"Take cover!" Jon yelled.
"My head's bleeding," Alan said. "They put rocks in the snowballs!"
"Are you okay, Kathy?" Jon asked.
"Yeah, it just bounced of my jacket."
The other side began making more snowballs.
"Round two... bigger rocks! 'Rain of Pain' time!"
Jon was getting mad.
"Throw rocks at my friends," he whispered taking off his glasses, eyes glowing red. "I'll show them. I'll show..."
He sighed and slid his glasses back on. "They're getting closer! Protect your faces and get ready to—"
Suddenly, a giant snowball landed on top of the other team.
"—charge them?"
"Guess we've got an angel on our shoulder, Jon." Kathy said, smiling at Jon.
"Or a devil, Kathy," Jon replied, noticing the substitute bus driver on the roof. He knew instantly.
"Everyone over to the bus," he hollered. "Alan, go inside to the nurse's office and get your head looked at."
"Okay..." Alan replied weakly.
When everyone was gone, he ran to the school's side.
"What are you doing at my school?" he asked the person, who he knew was not the bus driver.
"I was bored," the person replied in a much younger voice. "Wanted to see how the other half lives."
