Chapter 1

Andy's POV

'Beep, Beep.' "Mhm." I shift a little under the covers. 'Beep, Beep.' I groan. Laying on my stomach, I reach over
and try to find the alarm clock. Once I find it, I bang on the clock trying to turn it off. It wouldn't so I grabbed a hold of it, yanking it out the wall and throwing it against the wall. Breaking it. I sit up slowly and get out of bed. I yawn, smelling my breathe. "Ew!" I say while walking into the bathroom.

I then open my eyes, while wiping the sleep away. I yawn once more, while grabbing my toothbrush and putting toothpaste on it. After I brush my teeth and wash my face. My eyes widen with realization. "Shit..." I say. "I totally forgot, I start my first day at a new school." I mumble to myself while rubbing my eyes.

"That's right." My brother pops his head into the bathroom. I look up and look toward him. I notice his eyes flicker down at my bruises on my arm. He then steps all the way into the bathroom.

"Are you okay, Andy?" He looks at me with worry in his eyes. I glare at him while trying to cover up my arms. "Yes, I'm fine." I turn back toward the mirror.

"Andy..." He grabs my hand and squeezes it softly. "Is it dad again?" There's a long pause. "Did he come home drunk again? I'm sorry I wasn't there to protect you and Mom this time. I had tons of homework and, the teachers kept me after." He chuckles slightly.

I sigh and then turn to him with a soft smile.
"It's fine... I'm fine, really." I say. "I was actually trying to protect Mom, but as you can see it didn't quite go as planned. Heh." I smile.

He then looks at me with anger in his eyes. At that moment, he grabs me and pulls me into a hug with a death grip. "Andy... I'm so, so sorry I wasn't there for you." I hesitate before hugging him back.

"Alex... I'm fine, don't worry." He pulls back very quickly, looking me in the eyes, his arm still wrapped around me. "No! You are not fine! I'm an adult therefore he can't touch me but that doesn't me he will ease up on you and Mom." He says with a deadly serious look.

"He's a fucking deadbeat, but don't you worry because one day when I get enough money you me and Mom are gonna leave all together." He looks at me with a hurt expression and hugs me again but tighter.

"I don't wanna loose you Andy, your my best friend." I break the hug and look at him. "Your not gonna loose me Alex, I'll always be here when you need me." I smile at him then back away, looking at my phone in the process.

"Oh shit! I'm gonna be late. Alex can you give me a ride?" I say while looking up at him. He looks at me. "Uh... yea sure, but Andy..." "Yea?" I say. "You might wanna look at yourself one more time in the mirror. You look like a mess."

I look down at myself and notice I'm still in my pjs: which consists of a light tank top and a pair of shorts. I then turn toward the mirror and notice my hair is all messy. Then I turn to my brother and punch him.

"Ow! What was that for?" He frowns. "It was for not telling me sooner. Now get out!" I push him out the door. I also walk out behind him and wander into my room.

I hurry over to my closet and grab out a t-shirt and a purple sweater with my initials on the front. I also grab out a pair of black skinny jeans and I slide on my converses. I grab my bag and rush out the door, until I realize I didn't do my hair. So, I hurry back into my room, grab my hairbrush and head over to go stand in front of my mirror. I brush my hair and on the way out, I quickly grab my black beanie that has my name 'Andy' printed on the front.

I quickly run down the stairs two at a time. I reach the bottom and notice my brother, standing at the bottom on his phone.

He's wearing a green
t-shirt with the sleeves rolled up and some black pants. He's also wearing his vans shoes, and his matching black beanie, that's similar to mine except it has his name 'Alex' printed on the front.

He looks up from his phone and notices me. He smiles and says "You ready to go?"

I nod and say "Yea, lets go before I'm late."
