3 December 2016, 11:00 AM
"I was there all the night. I didn't see anybody coming madam", the watchman at 'Star House' apartment was pretty sure about that.
Yavanika along with Roopa and Krish was standing in front of the watchman room.
"Did you see this man that night? His name is Krish", Yavanika pointed at Krish.
"No mam" the watchman took a closer look and told those words.
"What are you saying? I came that night and you made an entry when I entered this apartment."
"Where is your entry note book?" Yavanika asked that watchman.
He gave it to her.
Yavanika turned the pages and found the date 1 December 2016. She searched for Krish's name and found 'KRISH, 9:40 PM, To Sathya's apartment, Left at 10:35 PM'
"You made an entry about him. And you are saying you don't know him?" Yavanika was little angry.
"Sorry mam. So many people come in a day. That's why I couldn't remember", the watchman apologized.
The secretary of the apartment came in front of the building after seeing the police jeep and police uniforms.
"Hello Mam. I am Srinivaas, Secretary of this apartment. Come inside mam. We have an office here and we can talk there."
"No need Mr. Srinivaas. I need you to do a favor. I need a list of all Muslim women who stays here. It's for an investigation."
"Oh my god. Any terrorist woman living here? I told the owners not to give home to Muslim people", Srinivaas panicked.
"Stop this non sense. When I say Muslim, your mind automatically goes to terrorist mode? All Muslims are not terrorists. They are also ordinary people like us. Stop humiliating them by saying those stupid things", Yavanika was very angry.
"I am so sorry mam"
"Well. It's not your fault. It's the fault of the society. I need the list now. Can you get it or not?"
"Just five minutes mam. I'll go and get it"
"Okay!"
After five minutes the secretary came with the list.
"Mam, there are three Muslim families live here. First family lives at 4th floor, second family at 7th Floor and the third family at 10th Floor."
"Well. How many floors you have?"
"Twelve", the secretary replied.
Krish intervened and said, "Mam. The woman I saw went to 10th floor"
Yavanika said, "Okay, we'll start from there!"
In about thirty minutes Krish said the following sentence three times.
"No mam. This is not her. I remember that eyes. It was purely a man"
Yavanika sighed and turned to the secretary.
"You have twelve floors and you don't even have a single CCTV camera?"
"Sorry mam. We had one CCTV camera at the gate near watchman room but the kids broke that while playing. Now we are installing it at every floor. Hopefully we'll finish it by next week."
Yavanika worried and turned to Roopa.
"Well. It's not going good Roopa."
"Yes mam. Where are we going next?"
She replied, "CLOUDICA"
"You took half day leave Mr. Krish?" Yavanika asked Krish.
"No mam. Today is Saturday. I have no office on Saturday"
"Oh I forgot. Okay you can go. We'll go to your office. The office is 24/7 right?"
"Yes mam. People will be there working in shifts"
"Okay Krish Bye!"
The two got in to the jeep. A 20 minute travel took them to CLOUDICA.
It was a ten storey building. It looked very grand from the outside.
Yavanika showed her identity to the receptionist and asked for Rakshana.
She politely replied, "Please wait mam."
After five minutes she came and said, "Mam is ready to meet you!"
Yavanika and Roopa went. They entered Rakshana's room which was at 5th floor.
"I am Yavanika, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime branch", Yavanika shook hands with Rakshana the Chairwoman and CEO of CLOUDICA.
Rakshana, a 27 year old spinster, started this company 5 years ago after completing her masters at MIT (not Madras Institute of Technology). Now, Cloudica is one of the fastest growing IT companies in the country.
"Welcome!" that was the only response given by Rakshana.
"What can I do for you?" Rakshana asked Yavanika.
"I hope you heard about the death of your employee Sathya."
"No. I have over 100,000 employees under me. I can't keep tabs for each and every one. Although my condolences to her family" Rakshana showed no interest while talking. She was busy with her cellphone.
"Okay. There was another one of your employees who went missing four days ago. His name is Ravi. Have you heard about that at least?"
"Listen Madam. I have a lot of work to do. I can't keep answering to your questions about a missing person whom I don't even know. If you want you can talk to my COO. He will coordinate you with the things and stuffs. He can even arrange a meeting with the staffs who work here."
"Okay. I see you are doing your job. I am also doing mine. To do so, I need your full cooperation mam" Yavanika lowered her voice.
"What do you want me to do?" Rakshana asked politely for the first time.
"Well. You carry on with your work. I will speak to your COO and get back to you if I have anything to ask."
"Fine" Rakshana gave a sharp reply.
Yavanika and Roopa left the room and on the way they met the COO Mr. Kannan.
Rakshana looked worried. She took her cellphone and called someone immediately after they left.
"Hello, it's me. I think we have a PROBLEM!"
