Suzann’s POV

I woke up to the sun shining through my window and the birds singing their morning greetings early this morning.  Today was the day, the day that my twin sister and I were leaving to see our elder sister Elizabet. Mama finally agreed that we could go. We had been begging her for weeks now. It all started when we received a telegram from Elizabet’s husband saying she was expecting and was longing to have some familiar faces with her for the last half of her pregnancy. Papa thought it was a good idea from the start.  Mama took some convincing but finally agreed when Papa reminded her that this was her second grandchild by this previously hellion like daughter of hers, and that he would like to have first hand knowledge of just how well she had done for herself.

We had never met Elizabet’s eldest son. She had run off the night before she was to be married to the boys father. All she left behind was a note asking for forgiveness and that she couldn’t explain why now but one day she would. Mama had thought the worst of her for a long time after that. She thought that Liz was just bein selfish and that she was just lookin for a chance to run away. Elli and I had always hoped that mama wasn’t right. When we got the letter and picture of her wedding Mama decided maybe her second eldest daughter wasn’t tryin to kill her by bein rebellious.

“SUZANN, Get down here now. Mama’s having a fit that we aren’t ready to leave yet!”  Elli shouted from the other side of our bedroom door. “I swear you do this just to get her all riled up so that I have to deal with it!” she stated as she entered our room. “Now Elli, you know perfectly well that you are the one who isn’t ready to leave.” I pointed out as my twin stood in the doorway still in her night dress. I had made sure to get up a few hours early to get dressed and check our luggage over to make sure we wouldn’t leave any necessary items behind. When I had finished that I had eaten and then laid back down to rest till it was time for us to leave. “Well, you know mama, she has to have everything in order two days in advance or she thinks she can’t go.” Elli sheepishly stated.

Getting up, I smoothed over the wrinkles in my dress so that I was presentable to the public. Elli simply through her dress over her night shift so that she could cut back on the time it took to get properly dressed. Mama would most definitely notice. After taking one look at Elli tut that her daughter was to improper at times then off we would go to the train station to begin mine and Elli’s adventure in the great wild west.

Elizabet’s POV

“Sam, I hope they like it here.” I told my husband as we sat out under that old maple tree watching our oldest son play in the nearby crick. “I am sure they will love it here. Especially since they get to see you!” Sam lovingly told me as he hugged me tight trying to alleviate my sudden anxiety. Of course I didn’t tell him that his words did nothing to help. He was a good and honest man that did his best to keep me and our son Jaxson happy.

As we sat there enjoying each other’s company, Sam’s deputy came riding towards us at a speed that not even the devil would dare to ride at. Sam looked up and immediately knew something was up. Pushing me up slowly do to my swollen six month baby bump, Sam being careful for mine and the baby’s safety.
