Chapter Nine: You guys are talking about Coachella? In the middle of doing PSETs?
"God Jessamine, I still don't understand Krebs Cycle." Hailey scratched her hair while studying Biology with me. Maurice and Atreyi on the other hand were doing their PSETs.
"Oxaloacetate, citrate..." I kept on recalling everything I have studied last night for the Biology test.
Hailey closed her book and almost yelled. "Screw this biology test."
"It's okay. You'll pass." I rubbed her back and gave her a wide smile.
"I need a break." Breathing deeply, she shut her eyes and gave a huge sigh. Afterwards, she stood up and went to the restroom.
Atreyi and Maurice were arguing about something but it was not in a heated way, but in a joking way. Atreyi wanted to tell me something but Maurice was stopping her.
"Come on Maurice, what is that?" I rolled my eyes. "Am I not someone to be trusted?"
Atreyi shook her head and produced a tsk tsk sound as she gave an evil smile to Maurice. He finally gave up and said, "Promise me not to tell anyone okay?"
As I raised my hand, I gave a nod.
"I..." Maurice was too shy to say it, but he did it anyway. "have a crush on Hailey."
On that moment, I did not know what to say or feel, because it was too cute! "Since when? And who knows?"
"Only you and Atreyi. Atreyi saw her name on my notebook, so of course it was obvious. And then she told me to tell you." Maurice shot a glare at Atreyi.
She covered her mouth and gave a giggle. "Come on, that's friendship goals. We should not keep secrets to each other, right Jessamine?"
"Right!" After that, I gave a high five to Atreyi. "Come on buddy, we'll help you with her."
"You guys would? By teasing I guess." Maurice wanted to laugh but immediately stopped when Hailey came and sat down. Her blonde hair now was tied in a ponytail. "What you guys up to?"
"Discussing about..." Maurice suddenly got nervous.
"Coachella!" Atreyi suddenly blurted out the most random topic out of the blue.
"You guys are talking about Coachella? In the middle of doing PSETs?" Hailey raised her eyebrows but shot her eyes at me.
"Yeah, Atreyi suddenly mentioned about music then uhh..." I bit my lip and thought of how I should be good in lying because being a lawyer should be a good liar too. "Coachella popped up in our conversation since it's some crazy music festival as far as I know."
"Yeah, it was trending before on Twitter." Atreyi added. I could feel Maurice getting tense at what we're doing, and it was a bit funny.
"Oh." Hailey smiled and sat down as she started fixing her things. "We need to go to class now Jessamine."
Looking at my watch, I also quickly fixed my things and gave a few second meditations for me to be prepared in our Biology test which will happen soon.
