The  Annual Schuyler Winter Ball

Snow fell softly around the Schuyler residence. It was one of the people's favorite day of the year: The Annual Schuyler Winter Ball. The ballroom was lit dimly by candlelight and the people were starting to arrive. It was the time for the three Schuyler sisters time to shine. And to find a man to be wed to. But Eliza had better sense than finding love in one night. You couldn't find true love in one night, could you? She never wanted to marry, not at this age. Why couldn't marriage be for love, not riches? She peeked from the staircase to find the ballroom, slowly filling. But there was one man who caught her eye. His dark hair, beautiful eyes, and particularly short height caught her. Maybe. Just maybe, she could meet him. He seemed like a nice man... but...why was he next to her father...Is he a...solider? Eliza pushed away from the thought when she heard her sisters' voices. " Eliza, come on. It's time. " She would stand beside her sister, picking up the base of her skirt, walking down the stairs. Everyone looked in awe. But where was that man? The music started to play and people began dancing. That's when she saw him coming that way. And boy was he more beautiful from this angle. And those eyes.

" Ms. Schuyler. My name is Alexander Hamilton. I-I was wondering if you'd like to dance. " He would stutter nervously. " Of course, it'd be my honor to dance with you. Please, call me Elizabeth. Or Eliza. " He'd bow, kissing her hand. Then, he'd lead her onto the dance floor, gracefully beginning to glide her across the ballroom, waltzing. "  You're an amazing dancer by the way. I saw you conversing with my father earlier, are you a soldier? " Eliza asked. " Yes, I work with General Washington, serving as his right-hand man and colonel. " They'd dance and talk for the rest the night. Eliza could see something in his eyes. Almost like a fondness. Soon, the ball would be almost over. " It was my pleasure getting to know you, Eliza. I hope to see you again. " He'd say. " The pleasure was mine, Alexander. I would love to see you again soon. "

Yep, this one's mine.
Eliza would think to herself.

This was only the start of a love story that would last a lifetime.
