The Marauders Year 1

"Mother, get off me, please get off me," James struggled in Dora Potter grip and groaned as she planted a kiss on his cheek.
"Remember, Gryffindor son," said Charlus Potter laughing.
"Where dwell the brave at heart," finishes James. He hugged his father and then bounded onto the train. He dragged his trunk along the corridor looking into every compartment as he passed. James stomped on further up the train until he glanced into a compartment and sawn only a boy with greasy black hair and... a girl with flaming red hair and the most beautiful green eyes he'd ever seen.
"Well are you going in or not?"
James jumped as two boys appeared behind him, the first had shoulder black hair and a trademark white smile. The other had brown hair and an unusual amount of scars on his face.
"Well..." persisted the first boy.
"Umm, yes," spluttered James and shoved his way in.
"Did no one teach you to knock?" asked the girl crossly looking round.
"Oh, sorry... I mean... well I... I'm James Potter," he said extending his hand.
"Lily Evans," she said smiling and grasped his hand.
James felt his face flush and then the other boy elbowed him out of the way and sat down with a thump opposite him.
"Sirius Black," he said holding out his hand for first James and then Lily to shake. He, as James has done, completely ignored the boy with the greasy hair.
"Remus Lupin," said the scarred boy with a slight smile.
"So what house are you headed?" queried James.
"I don't know," said Lily. "They all sound wonderful. "I like the sound of Gryffindor but Severus says that Slytherin is definitely best," she paused. James let out a heart laugh,
"Slytherin, who wants to be in Slytherin?! If I was in Slytherin I think I'd leave wouldn't you?" he gestured at Sirius.
"My whole family have been in Slytherin," he said sadly. "How ever if this slimy git wants to be in Slytherin I think I'll pass."
James howled with laughter and Sirius grinned appreciably.
Lily stood up fuming,
"come on Severus let's find another compartment," she spat and flounced out the room her long Hogwarts robes flicking behind her. Severus stood up and hurried out after her and Sirius halfheartedly stuck out his foot to trip him up.
"See you later Snivellous," yelled James after him.

Sirius lounged back against the window and swung his feet into Remus' lap laughing.
"I'm going to be the best in the whole year," gloated James.
"Na that's me," said Sirius flicking his hair out of his eyes. "I'll beat you in every test without even studying.
"Well we will have to study, we have to pass exams to get into our second year," said Remus seriously.
"Oh studying, I don't need to study, I've been ready for those exams since the day I was born," said Sirius waving his hand dismissively.
Remus rolled his eyes and groaned. 
Why am I friends with you?" he asked.
"Who said we where friends," said James. " I don't remember mentioning friendship, did I mention it Sirius?"
Remus crumpled slightly.
"I'm joking," said James quickly.
"Although if Sirius here is a Slytherin I might have to disown him."
"I'm not a dog," said Sirius huffily. "And hey, I might break the tradition, my cousin Andromeda is a Hufflepuff and she's great. I want to be like her."
"Ah well, then we are all good," said James smiling. James Sirius and Remus, the terrors of Hogwarts, the Hogwarts..." he paused for a second. "Troublemakers,"
"What about rule breakers?" suggested Sirius. "The marauders?" mumbled Remus 
"The what?" said James sharply.
"The Marauders?" said Remus again, a little louder.
James sucked in his breath.
"James Potter, Sirius Black and Remus Lupin, the Hogwarts Marauders." 
"By Merlin I love it!" cried Sirius punching the air.
"We will cause more chaos than they can ever imagine!" yelled James wielding an imaginary sword. "And we will conquer!" grinned Remus.
The train rattled towards Hogwarts.
