Chapter One: The Early Years
Honey , my parents are getting a divorce, which then means i’m moving back to Utah with my Dad , James, Travis, and Todd. I know i should have told you sooner but i was just afraid of your reaction” said Taylor. I stared into his heavy hazel eyes across the bench with confusion as my own started to fill with water. Not just any water, the kind that you drain from eyes as your heart feels like its truly ripping in half, the kind of water that makes your palms sweaty and your cheeks bright red. It was the first time in two years of being with him that i had no words to run out my mouth or anything prepared to respond back to, i mean i knew his parents had been fighting but i never imagined it’d come to this. I just sat there looking at him angry and in so much pain that it gave me that empty stomach feeling as if I was so alone even though i was so close to someone that i knew would fix me.
“Well are you going to say anything Kayla…?” he said concerned “ I know that look and i know you pissed, just talk to me about it, thats what im here for.” I looked over and grabbed my gray JanSport backpack, “ Taylor i’m upset that you’re leaving, which is obvious, but why? Why do you need to leave now, two weeks before my birthday too, can’t you just live with your mother?” I stood up and threw one leg over the bench and said “ Not only that but you told Tyten before me, shouldnt i be more important than one of your friends? Or atleast i thought so?” “ What the hell Kayla? Selfish much, i’m not staying here because if i do my mother will put me through hell and my brothers need me. I dont want to leave you , your my everything right now.” Taylor said. “ So much for forever, huh? “ I snapped back at him. I threw my other leg over and started walking in the opposite direction pulling my headphones out of my bag and turning Red Hot Chilli Peppers on blast with tears streaming down my face.
I pulled open the front door and kicked of my combat boots and hung my black leather jacket up on the hanger and sprinted up the stairs just to slam my bedroom door shut to let the whole house know i was annoyed.
