As night cloaked the city in darkness shadowy figures emerged, flitting across the land. They did not escape the watchful eyes of the hunter, protector this city. He hissed true he had seen these creatures before but never in this number. What did they want? Who did they? He knew not they answers only his duty: to wage combat with these creatures. Reduce their spread or die in the attempt . He drew his blade an ancient weapon forged to combat these creatures. But he lamented, what was the point? They were Legion, many and he was but one. A scream echoed across the city, shattering the hunters' reprieve . they had found their first victim. The hunter opened heart feeling the Sorrow build, with it he located the creatures. The hunter felt the darkness close in and swirl around him, with a crack his Sorrow was released . He reappeared in a dank alleyway clutching at his chest as two Doppelgangers circled a young girls' corpse. She looked to be about thirteen with blonde hair chopped short. She was dressed in a nurses' uniform with fishnet stockings, her face was caked in red whether from makeup or blood he couldn't tell. She was probably coming home from a party OR he amended, going to work. Gods he cursed This city corrupts even the young. He stood the Ragnarok Norgan held in a ready position. The Doppelgangers turned revealing their form: they stood about seven and a half foot tall, long limbed and spindly even though they could take al most any shape they chose , they had almost no discernible facial features except for the vague outline of a nose and eyes large orbs of blood with a faint iridescence like that of a fire at the end of the tunnel. They slowly advanced toward the hunter leaving the girls' mangled body behind. The hunter readjusted his grip on the sword. The Doppelganger on the right slashed with claws made of shadow. the hunter ducked under the attack and countered with a vicious strike to the Doppelgangers abdomen, the enchanted cleaver went right through. The Doppelganger fell in two squirming piles leaking a kind of grey smoke. The Hunter pressed the attack, he swung the cleaver down on the remaining Doppelgangers right arm severing it. He followed up with a plunge into the things chest shattering the crystal embedded deep in it's chest. Smoke billowed out from the wound consuming it until there was nothing left but shards of obsidian. He turned satisfied that brief feeling evaporated as he looked down at the ground. The doppelganger was gone the Hunter turned in a circle shadows encircled him, he approached the corpse he still needed to give her soul rest. The doppelganger burst from the shadows, now a four armed monstrosity the Hunter whirled bringing his sword to bear. But alas even he cannot defend against the flurry of strikes. the arms puncture his chest ripping gaping holes through his lungs. The Hunter collapses to his knees, held upright by the shadows. An unnatural laugh started to reverberate through the alley, as if not one but many voices laughed in unison. A figure stepped from the shadows unlike the Doppelgangers however this one was a man or looked like one. He was six feet tall and dressed in an expensive suit, h was an ordinary man until you came upon his eyes, whereas the doppelgangers were red his were black. The man approached the Hunter, he picked up the Hunters' blade he spoke while examining it "You have fought us for the last time Hienrich ." it spoke in the same voice as the laughter: not one but many. "What are you?" hienrich gasped spitting up blood. the thing looked at him like he would an insect "We are Legion for we are many." With that the creature raised the sword and brought it crashing down on it's knee. A scream ruptured from the blade, a woman's scream filled with pain, fear, and sorrow. the scream faded away and with it Hienrichs' hope. Legion turned away and walked toward the shadows, without turning it hissed "Dispose of him." The Doppelganger pulled the arms apart taking hienrichs' life. His final thought before death claimed him was Marian. He died with a blood choked sigh, Death releasing his body from the Sorrow but not his soul.
